I cried when Matt won: he was so nice and I'm going to miss him.

SlightlyMadScotland · 26/02/2009 21:24

I was getting sicm of seeing ravioli by teh end though.....I think it has been on display from one of them every time they have had the scope to create their own dishes.

Habbibu · 26/02/2009 21:25

Yes - they did get a bit obsessed. But I do love ravioli...

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 26/02/2009 21:39

Hurray for Mat, his food looked truly exciting and different.

merryberry · 26/02/2009 21:44

what was his final pud?

Habbibu · 26/02/2009 21:45

Lavender mousse with blackberry coulis and cinder toffee.

DaDaDa · 26/02/2009 23:35

Yay! Just finished watching it. We were jumping up and down on the sofa when he won. [yes we're a bit sad]

Truly thought they'd go for Andy but Mat's final menu was definitely a cut above. Good luck to t'other two but the best man won. See you all next year?!

merryberry · 27/02/2009 06:04

droool. thanks habbibu

seeker · 27/02/2009 06:32

I am desperate to make a chocolate teardrop!

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2009 09:51

yay - Mat deserved to win, though I'd get a bit fed up with pesky bits of lavender or whatever the flowers were on my food ! Oh dear, now what can I look forward to ?

seeker · 27/02/2009 10:29

About those chocolate tear drops.......

piratecat · 27/02/2009 11:42

i am so pleased he won!! i wasn't keen on the tall chap.

hazeyjane · 27/02/2009 14:45

was it my imagination, or did Mat called the honeycomb, 'hokey pokey' ?

SlightlyMadScotland · 27/02/2009 14:53

He did. It is a NZ term which is where he grew up.

seeker · 27/02/2009 15:34

Will nobody tell me how to make chocolate tear drops?

SparkyFartDust · 27/02/2009 15:37

seeker.

no idea but from what I could gather it does involve some faff with glycerol.

SparkyFartDust · 27/02/2009 15:38

or glucose?

NormaJeanBaker · 27/02/2009 15:39

I had 'hokey pokey' ice cream the other day - from Baskin Robbins near the British Museum. Vanilla and honeycomb - rather tasty.

I want one of my children to be a Michelin starred chef so I can become the official taster.

womblingalong · 27/02/2009 15:58

Chocolate teardrop:

According to annoying voice over woman

You take a thimbleful of glucose and pour liquid chocolate in. then you pull pthe glucose into a 'stalk' WTF?

hollyhobbie · 27/02/2009 18:15

Anyone know what they actually win on Masterchef? Is it just the trophy and the glory, or do they really get a leg up in the restaurant trade?

helsbels4 · 27/02/2009 18:19

I actually shouted for joy in fron of DH when Mat won! . He was so genuine and I loved the way he shed a tear whenever they complimented him! The other bloke irritated me beyond belief and I wanted to slap him. What am I going to do with my evenings now it's finished? (sad, loser emoticon)

Molesworth · 27/02/2009 18:20

I'm also glad that Mat won. Was v impressed with the way he put together ingredients in the invention test yesterday (venison/beetroot/chilli/fruit). The other two seemed pedestrian by comparison.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2009 18:42

I made honeycomb once - it's volcanic !!
