Its on at nine.
Its about women that give birth at home, alone with no midwife, and no medical interventio.

yes, what are we seeing there pruners? it does look amazing.

Evelynsmum · 09/07/2008 21:29

I think in the UK a Doula could be prosecuted if they were at a freebirth.

HuwEdwards · 09/07/2008 21:29

It's 'all or nothing' with homebirthing because of the prospect of litigation in the event of a problem, surely?

RegenerAitch · 09/07/2008 21:29

is it just like that because she's otherwise skinny?

RegenerAitch · 09/07/2008 21:30

yes, but why is she so adamant that a homebirth with a sympathetic MW is so bad?

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 21:30

How do you get a homebirth with a sympathetic midwife?

poshtottie · 09/07/2008 21:30

I think the danger is people watching this deciding they will want to do the same.

Evelynsmum · 09/07/2008 21:31

I don't understand that either RegenerAitch and there are some excellent mws out there.

I freebirthed (not through choice) my DD4 was born 2 weeks ago on the front room floor and my DH delivered her,so no midwife or pain relief I would not have planned it that way though!

RegenerAitch · 09/07/2008 21:32

well, i suppose if nothing else frank you could shell out for a doula. but most of the hbs i've read about on here seem to have been great, with very pro midwives.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2008 21:33

that baby's not making a sound

poshtottie · 09/07/2008 21:33

That was not her first birth was it? Pretty amazing though.

MissingMyHeels · 09/07/2008 21:34

Wow - that was amazing!

hellsbells76 · 09/07/2008 21:34

ok so why is her husband there with a camcorder when the film crew have left cameras all over the house?

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 21:34

wow, that was amazing. Very different to births I've watched before....so calm and relaxed and none of the old PUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH.

RegenerAitch · 09/07/2008 21:34

amazing, i must say. i didn't make any noise either, as it happens. would have seemed like a waste of my energy at the time.

what a peaceful beautiful birth...
quiet awake secure newborn
amazing... None of mine have cried much as have had quiet calm births, tis a wonder

artichokes · 09/07/2008 21:36

wow, i would be interested to hear what her first birth was like.

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 21:36

I know expat.....I was willing it to start crying, but if it's journey into the world has been so calm and relaxed why would it cry?

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 21:36

I am shelling out for a doula! but that isn't a homebirth with a supportive midwife, that's a possible homebirth with a supportive doula

my last attempt at HB a complete disaster due to unsupportive midwife
I won't have met whichever midwife attends this birth so no way of knowing if she is sympathetic in advance

I think the thing is that most HBs we hear of have been good or great experiences
the ones that go wrong due to lack of support don't end up being HBs

expatinscotland · 09/07/2008 21:36

i was making cavewoman grunts.

that's about it.

flubdub · 09/07/2008 21:36

was she in pain then or not? she didnt look it.
it looks like theyre advertising it. they arnt showing any cons.
