Its on at nine.
Its about women that give birth at home, alone with no midwife, and no medical interventio.

lol at the swearing. nice on camera. ach, she did well too.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2008 21:53

I was scared witless.

Hence, yoga and hypnobirthing tapes.

lou031205 · 09/07/2008 21:54

I pretty much free-birthed my first, but to be fair I was on labour ward, they just didn't know I was in labour & neither did I. Realised when I was fully dilated!

oh no! no bitey the nipple, wee one! EIS learned that the hard way.

spicemonster · 09/07/2008 21:54

Is that what that bandeau was for? I thought it was to stop her boobs flapping about

Wow that new baby is really alert isn't he?

traceybath · 09/07/2008 21:54

I couldn't bear to be touched in labour. Hated even my hair touching my face.

All the massage stuff we'd learnt at NCT was pointless for me personally.

RegenerAitch · 09/07/2008 21:54

oh they look so CLEVER when thye're first born, don't they?

i still think they're fucking bonkers, tbh.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2008 21:56

the british female OB hit hte nail on the head.

the American system, well, she pretty much summed it up.

it is for the most part, NOT at all flexible.

Damn I missed this programme is there any way I can watch it online I don't have Sky or Freeview or anything as we live in some kind of TV bermuda triangle

RegenerAitch · 09/07/2008 21:57

hate this power of the mind crap.

spicemonster · 09/07/2008 21:58

I think they're bonkers too but I had high drama birth and my baby probably would have died if I'd given birth at home so I have probably quite a warped view.

RoRoMommy · 09/07/2008 21:58

Oh no! Is there a plus 1?

and it would have been a massive up yours claire if your baby had been injured by your decision.

RegenerAitch · 09/07/2008 22:00

i think it offends me because you so often hear cancer survivors spouting it. i'm glad they made it, y'know, but fuck off if you're saying that your fucking MIND and will to survive is stronger than my dad's or any of the other people i know who have died. it's so utterly offensive.

spicemonster · 09/07/2008 22:01

I agree with you about cancer aitch. It's like it's your fault if it gets you which is a load of bollocks.

lou031205 · 09/07/2008 22:02

When I was in hospital, the midwives told me that they had recently had a woman in whose baby died. He had been diagnosed breech, and the hospital recommended a CS. She asked for vaginal homebirth. Hospital strongly advised hospital vaginal birth. She insisted on HB, and suffered complications. Baby stuck, cord prolapse. 999 to hospital, but the baby died a few days later.

When they spoke to her about it, she said that she had to believe that she did the right thing, because otherwise the only conclusion was that her actions caused her son's death. Very .

Would hate a mum to underestimate the risks because of good stories out there.

i thought overall it was a bit too positive as a doc, tbh.

WinkyWinkola · 09/07/2008 22:05

Yes, breech can be a problem because not many midwives have experience of helping with a breech birth. Mainly because consultants automatically recommend a C-section.

RTKangaMummy · 09/07/2008 22:05

DID anyone see that the welsh mum {well the south african} had the cord wrapped arund the baby neck

she unwrapped it so she could cuddle it
