Anyone watching CH4 tonight, about freebirthing?

Its about women that give birth at home, alone with no midwife, and no medical interventio.

[having had all three of mine in hospital it is a totally foreign idea to me]

Am watching it too....have heard that the more intervention you have the more likely to have to have a c section so will be interesting to see how they go with nowt....risky though?

is it "extraordinary people" on ch5 21:00?

have strong opinions on free birthing, but am very interested , particularly in what motivates women to freebirth, especially if they have no antenatal care at all....

So she wont even have a partner there. She'll be ALONE!!

i'd feel terrified at this.

i'd love to give birth in our local hospital, because you ge to have 2 midwives with you at all times.

if there is an emergency, you will be choppered to the consultant-led hospital in 8 minutes.

i waited longer for a consultant to get to me when i ran into trouble during labour at a large city hospital.

she did have all the ante natal care though, scans etc. My sister had two homebirths but had a mw present.

Struggling to understand - whats wrong with a midwife attended homebirth?? Hope will be explained...

TBH this is selfishness. The baby just wants to get out of there. Putting your baby at risk is not a good move.

having had a dd with a heart problem diagnosed immediately after birth I'd not take this route, homebirth yes, I've had 3 kids and had terrific midwives. Luckily

We tried for a homebirth with DD but ended up transferring to hospital. I was very pleased to have an experienced midwife present.

I don't think freebirthing would be for me.

I can sort of see where Americans are coming from in this.

The way they give birth there I find particularly awful.

I'm so glad I was spared this.

LOTS of monitoring, internals, stirrups, medications, flat on your back, doctor-run.

What an odd face that lady has.

I think they're very brave

In the US I think I can understand this more...even more medicalised over there and hard to find support for a homebirth. Still sounds very high risk...
