Starts sun 20th Sept

A glorious spin off from the split but with a new family

The six-part series will introduce us to Kishan Law, a British-South Asian high net worth family law firm in Manchester, and the go-to for the city’s elite.

At the centre of it is Aria Kishan (played by Ritu Arya), a fast-rising star who’s poised to step up and take the mantle from her father Dhruv (Sanjeev Bhaskar).

We’ll also meet Aria’s siblings Maya (Aysha Kala), Kav (Arian Nik), and partner Neal (Danny Ashok).

However, the family’s succession plans are complicated by the death of Aria’s mother, as Dhruv begins to wonder if his daughter can, or should, take on the responsibility single handedly.

The official synopsis continues: “Aria’s relationship is placed under scrutiny too with the wedding to long-term partner Neal on the horizon, but with their personal and professional lives so entwined it’s unclear if their relationship can withstand any more pressure - a problem further compounded when a former secret flame (Dimitri Leonidas) arrives in Manchester unexpectedly.

I just watched tonight’s episode, having not seen any others. I quite liked it, but why are all the sets so brown and unappealing? Part of the appeal of The Split was that all the interiors were gorgeous!

Peachy2005 · 05/10/2026 22:00

Had to watch 5&6 on a plane earlier as I figured iplayer would cut me off in Ireland. There’s me at the baggage carousel still watching….Assume we can’t discuss till 10? Actually I know this was ep 5: I lost any respect for her going from Luke’s bed to Neal’s practically within a few hours. I mean c’mon, that’s just massively icky. Before starting into ep 6 that made me convinced they had to be setting up a “she gets preggers and doesn’t know who the father is” plotline for a subsequent series, which is just very Eastenders-style. Plus Neal doesn’t really know enough to make an informed decision so it’s bound to come out.

Walkingwithlions · 05/10/2026 22:05

Well! And they all lived happily ever after! What a travesty. I can’t believe they went through with it. There’s definitely a second series coming, the cliffhanger is what is going on between Neal’s mum and Aria’s dad?

Peachy2005 · 05/10/2026 22:06

Disappointed the travesty of a wedding had to go ahead for plot purposes for another series. How ridiculous that a top lawyer wouldn’t have sorted a divorce and be subject to blackmail for bigamy: what kind of idiot?!

At least maya didn’t go back to the gambling addict judge - thought she was going to be the one lacking backbone.

Kipperandarthur · 05/10/2026 22:14

Disappointed with the ending. It felt as though why had we bothered watching it all.

Presumably another series in the offing, but have to agree that a top lawyer would have sorted out a divorce.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/10/2026 22:31

Well that was interesting

I didn’t think she would marry Neal but did

well done maya for saying no

what does neals mummy know - I did wonder if she is mummy to zoya and his first wife but that’s a bit extreme

esp as he could have divorced her

so dhruv is a bigamist and still married to zoya mums

unless that’s the secret neals mum knows

def some kind of romance with Linda and dhruv lurking

I did think Neal was going to say while dancing I know it was Luke and then end

horrible zoya ex blackmailing but what’s the worst can happen if caught for bigamy

obv wouldn’t help the business being done for bigamy

but is it prison or a fine if get caught

obv means the 3 kids are born out of wedlock - but again not a huge deal this era

but guessing will make a s2

Yes I wondered if Neal’s mum is also Zoya’s mum but seems particularly far fetched.

not very realistic that Zoya turns up with her child to the wedding and goes here is your grandad and off they all trot.

I can’t believe they just got married anyway. I wonder if Neal’s mind will change now he’s figured out it was Luke and not just someone random

Found Luke coming to the wedding at all a bit odd

but …. I’ll probably watch season 2 whenever it comes out

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/10/2026 23:49

Oh I wouid def watch s2. And 3

I really enjoyed

This series was utterly ridiculous but I loved it and really want a series 2! It was so ridiculous that you could just suspend reality and not get annoyed with it for being so silly.
If anyone watched Dinosaur (really good, recommend) the actor that played Neal was also in that. In that show, I thought his voice / the way he presents himself was the character. But after watching this I think it’s just his he is. And he’s really annoying!
I thought Luke was absolutely gorgeous ❤️

Nofeckingway · 06/10/2026 17:42

In terms of sexiness , definitely Luke wins . Plus I love the strong brave tears in his eyes 😍. I was wondering why Zoya mother was not mentioned before this . I think Neal's mother may own or have invested in the firm ? And lost any respect for Aria , how can they slag Michael off when she went from one bed to another ? Yep bet she gets pregnant and doesnt knows who the father is . Yuck 🤢. Neal should have run away .

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/10/2026 18:09

Well she doesn’t want kids yet so hopefully on the pill

Really enjoyed it! (And to those complaining they couldn't tell the dark men apart: come ON.)
Probably says more about me than the series but I was in tears several times! I did think Aria ended up behaving really badly. Poor Luke (and Neal). The moment in the last episode when he arrived at the wedding after everyone was already seated and was momentarily framed in the doorway was pretty cringey though.
Hope there's a second series to resolve the mystery though it won't be as good if hot Dimitri Leonidas isn't in it!

burnoutbabe · 07/10/2026 20:40

I also watched and enjoyed. Though it was ridiculous for her to turn up at wedding not knowing if he was coming or not.

but overall it was nice even if they seemed to have far more hours in a day to work and party than the rest of us!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2026 21:43

I got better in e2 once got to know the characters

but e1 and meeting them all. Brother and lover looked similar

I thought that but then wondered if he didn’t turn up then everyone would feel sorry for her rather than blaming her for the infidelity. Or on a similar line forcing in him to a position of not turning up so everyone blamed him for humiliating her without knowing the full story. I thought it was quite manipulative of her but I think we were meant to think it sweet.

AutumnMuse · 10/10/2026 20:37

I finally finished it tonight!

I would have loved Luke and Aria as a couple. She hardly has any chemistry with Neal. Maybe it's the stability he offers - and the possibility that his mum could help her family in the future.

I like Maya, she wasn't the lead , but she felt like one to me. She was more expressive and stood out among the other characters.

Zoya's ex will cause more trouble and put pressure on Dhruv in the next series... S2??

It was worth watching and I enjoyed it!

Banjas · 11/10/2026 09:47

It felt like watching a soap, which I don’t watch. I was an avid Corrie fan 20 odd years ago but stopped because it became so dramatic and shoehorned “issues of the day” into it as often as possible.
I would watch a Series 2 as it’s easy watching There was no chemistry with Neal imo.
What secret do Neal’s mother and Aria’s father share ?
I thought Shalini Peiris as Zoya was a super actress, she has such an expressive face.
Dimitri Leonidas too as Luke was super.
As was the actress Ritu Arya.
Nice to see Lenny Henry and Jane Horrocks in it.
Isn’t Jameela Jamil stunningly beautiful.

JStor · 15/10/2026 10:19

I loved the series but it definitely had a bunch of issues.

I don't think Aria was particularly likeable as a lead, and I can't tell if that's Ritu Arya's choices or the writing.

It seemed very clear that the writers wanted us to want Aria and Luke to get together but as a result they seemed to not write any affectionate scenes between Neal and Aria - which then made their scenes work focused and lacking in chemistry. I think it made me not care about Neal and Aria and root for the infidelity between Luke and Aria, which made me feel a bit...hmm.

The cast were brilliant with the material they were given. But the material wasn't the best.

I found the case of the week stories kinda dull.

Although it's always interesting to have grey area characters, I feel that you almost needed a proper villain in Dhruv, just to allow Aria more of a drive that isn't just all based on the love triangle.

Aysha Kala was fantastic and should be the lead.

I hated the character on Dinosaur, though he was less annoying in series 2. But I actually loved Neal in this, especially from eps 3 onwards, he just came across as such a good guy and I found it heartbreaking when he had his moment of realisation in the last scene. Curious to see what happens with him in the next series, get him and Zoya together!

Banjas · 15/10/2026 14:34

We’ll disagree re Aysha Kala @JStor
I thought Ritu Arya was great in the lead

That's fair, I just preferred the character of Maya and found her more likeable and more compelling.

davidraker · 15/10/2026 16:55

I’ve just finished it and really enjoyed it. Obviously set up for season 2.
I would like an upgrade in the womens clothes. I suppose compared to the Split Aria is younger than Nicola Walker’s character but the mini skirt outfit especially looked so inappropriate for her position. Also her hair was a mess. Nitpicking I know but visually it’s nice watching immaculate women with gorgeous working and home environments.
One gripe was how unrealistic their evenings were. They all seemed to work late before evening events and then still had time to go off and meet/drink/have sex !
I think now we know them as a family dynamic next season could have grittier case storylines. They packed so much in about the family the cases were incidental.
