A glorious spin off from the split but with a new family

The six-part series will introduce us to Kishan Law, a British-South Asian high net worth family law firm in Manchester, and the go-to for the city’s elite.

At the centre of it is Aria Kishan (played by Ritu Arya), a fast-rising star who’s poised to step up and take the mantle from her father Dhruv (Sanjeev Bhaskar).

We’ll also meet Aria’s siblings Maya (Aysha Kala), Kav (Arian Nik), and partner Neal (Danny Ashok).

However, the family’s succession plans are complicated by the death of Aria’s mother, as Dhruv begins to wonder if his daughter can, or should, take on the responsibility single handedly.

The official synopsis continues: “Aria’s relationship is placed under scrutiny too with the wedding to long-term partner Neal on the horizon, but with their personal and professional lives so entwined it’s unclear if their relationship can withstand any more pressure - a problem further compounded when a former secret flame (Dimitri Leonidas) arrives in Manchester unexpectedly.

Yes absolute rubbish, been looking forward to it for weeks too.

She was in the original Split but this has a completely different cast. No cross over at all.

Enjoyed the first episode so happy to give this a chance

After 16 mins, it felt spookily just like The Split. I came on here to check if it was a re-make just with ethnicity and minor details changed but see that it’s a spin-off! It seems a bit formulaic so far but will give it a chance. I thought Lenny Henry did well. He was awful in that Amazon Tolkien thing so the bar was low, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I found it hard. Think I need to watch it again. I shouldn’t have watched it after The Blame - my brain mixed them 🤦🏽‍♀️

I love Rita Arya, but this was god awful. Not watching another.

I just felt like I’d seen this a thousand times before in other tv shows as in the stories and characters. Jane Horrocks is too good for this but we all have bills to pay!

Yes - should have had a different title - too many expectations after The Split. I am going to try ep1 again because I really want to enjoy it

It got better as the story developed. However the script is very clunky and makes genuinely good actors seem quite poor.
