Starts sun 20th Sept

A glorious spin off from the split but with a new family

The six-part series will introduce us to Kishan Law, a British-South Asian high net worth family law firm in Manchester, and the go-to for the city’s elite.

At the centre of it is Aria Kishan (played by Ritu Arya), a fast-rising star who’s poised to step up and take the mantle from her father Dhruv (Sanjeev Bhaskar).

We’ll also meet Aria’s siblings Maya (Aysha Kala), Kav (Arian Nik), and partner Neal (Danny Ashok).

However, the family’s succession plans are complicated by the death of Aria’s mother, as Dhruv begins to wonder if his daughter can, or should, take on the responsibility single handedly.

The official synopsis continues: “Aria’s relationship is placed under scrutiny too with the wedding to long-term partner Neal on the horizon, but with their personal and professional lives so entwined it’s unclear if their relationship can withstand any more pressure - a problem further compounded when a former secret flame (Dimitri Leonidas) arrives in Manchester unexpectedly.

The main cast of The Split Up includes:
• Ritu Arya (The Umbrella Academy (https://www.playpilot.com/series/the-umbrella-academy-2019-series/))

Not a patch on The Split . Actors just aren't as good . No great kitchen islands . The family home in Split Up is dowdy and old fashioned - is that on purpose. And the clothes ! What was with that awful silver striped suit in the first episode ?? And hate her hair , all uneven and straggly . Really they should all look as good as the rival lawyer woman , very classy . Funny how the bad guys are all white guys betraying Asian women . And her affair guy isn't Asian either , he's Greek . So not a hit with me . Pity as I was really hoping it would be as good as The Split .
Sanjeev is the best thing in it . His clothes are great and he's looking extremely desirable.

It’s so rubbish, the script is really clunky and the acting is a bit Grange Hill!
Nothing like the Split.

I’m really enjoying this & like that they are Hindu.

I think it really has the feel of The Split.

There were lots of shots in The Split with the three sisters dancing/drinking/talking etc. Very cheesy too.

Yes, the Split was about family & so is this.

The family home won’t be like the Split because it’s the parents home & therefore will be more dated.

Also I think the Defoe family have much more wealth, here they emphasise that Dhruv was an immigrant who started with nothing.

spinnerzs · 23/09/2026 20:52

The Split also had really cheesy moments …

Peachy2005 · 23/09/2026 21:29

And I couldn’t bear Stephen Mangan. He was like Kevin(?) from Motherland. Can’t believe all the people saying they had great chemistry. Aria and her fiancé have similarly crap chemistry imo

AplineDaisies · 24/09/2026 12:04

Aria and the Greek lawyer, Luke definitely do have chemistry though 🔥

They were on a 'break' like Ross and Rachel! Don't see why Dhruv didn't leave the firm to Aria, Kav and Maya.
I would never leave it to a son-in-law.

I assumed sexist bullshit because she was a girl!

Italiangreyhound · 24/09/2026 22:42

Ruth didn't leave the business to her daughters in the Split.

Walkingwithlions · 24/09/2026 23:22

I’m very underwhelmed by this. The acting was very wooden. I just couldn’t get into it. Shame really as I love Sanjeev. He’s excellent in Unforgotten.

Wonder how they get scored 20/36 and if under 18 do they not marry ?

Why did she says - Your parents built - not our parents built ?

Mil sounds Mil from hell - all that fussing over her son Nick . And demanding what school unborn baby goes to and must join the army

I think if they said no to her , she would have still supported her son. No way she would have left him without a penny

Sometimes better not work and live with your dad /family - he doesn't want to give up control of his company does he

And to tell the other firm about her office 🙀

Poor Linda as well

He's really coming across as quite rude isn't he

Aria so wanted to call him out at the party ......

So £200k he was giving zoya but why

And did he follow her into her room for a chat like a dad - or sex like a lover ......

Roll on e4 tomorow .....

Agreed! It’s all absolute nonsense but fun, an easy watch and not too taxing. I don’t think it was amazing but I enjoyed it, I loved some of the party scenes and location spotting.

I just don't feel the chemistry between Aria and Luke- in any scenes. The acting is not of a standard that you feel immediately what the character is going through- for example, when Aria first sees Luke and afterwards, the effect he is purported to have on her.

Also, everyone saying he's hot? Is he the type to be everyone's cup of tea?

Aria didn't seem to have chemistry with either bloke. Neal, lovely to look at as he is, came off stiltedly British at times, like the guy in Office Romance (opposite JLo).

The real comedy though... Mawaan Rizwan's Manc accent! 😂"Did yoh miss meh?"
