I was in by myself last night and wanted something easy to watch so I tried that new Murder in Benidorm series on C5. OMG - what a load of drivel. Makes Death in Paradise seem like a Dicken’s adaptation. Bad acting and ridiculous plot (and I do watch some crap!).
What was John Hannah thinking taking the lead role? I got about halfway through and turned it off & went to bed in disgust!

Oh and the Antiques one where they kick their feet up at the end saying "Yes? Yes!" I have the misfortune to catch the end of it sometimes before the One O'clock News comes on.

Bargain Hunt. I love that.

Never get over how excited they are when their item makes a whopping £2 profit at auction
😂

Bananacrepewithnuts · 07/08/2026 22:03

When I first put on Deal or No Deal I literally didn't understand it. Said to my late Dad this can't be all it is just opening boxes ? He said Yep thats it.

I like it now though with Stephen M. It's an easy watch x

Pushingback · 07/08/2026 22:08

I really liked it, but have only watched the first episode. Obviously the majority of the script was lyrics of Take That songs which made it funny.

I love this.

A classic is Ben asking “Papillon is the French word for which flying insect?”

After much blustering, the contestant came out with “Dog?”

Thought Ben was going to wet himself laughing 😝

I love that show too. I would like to go on it.

The questions aren't too hard and you can win some decent money.

X

Mrs browns boys . Utter rubbish

Dappy777 · 07/08/2026 22:12

I find the majority of TV unwatchable. I prefer YouTube.

Dad’s Army and Allo Allo . Which were DHs favourite.

Allo allo was pure piss
I hated it as a kid
The fallen Madonna with the big boobies
Just utter shite

OMV yes! It was completely minuscule.

Everyone is entitled to have a wee cheesy wotsit.

Ann Droid is pretty terrible

Ah, this has been my favourite series of the year so far! I'm on my third watch!

Dad's Army is a classic. Daft and of its time a little, but far superior to Allo Allo.

Mrs Brown’s Boys

Wasn't it named best British comedy of all time? I was absolutely fuming when I heard that because it’s utter kak. I genuinely hope what I heard was a joke!

If it was a public poll result it must have been sabotaged, like the Boaty McBoatface one.

Nobody could rate that wretched ‘comedy’ even watchable, let alone the best ever.

Mrs Brown's Boys makes me feel genuine, misery sodden despair. Why? Why does it exist? Who likes it? Who would pay to produce such a thing? Of everything else that could exist, why did that dross get a green light? Why?

It genuinely upsets me as a concept. Just knowing it exists hurts me on a deep spiritual level.

Agree, terrifyingly we will be interacting with people on a daily basis who will be fans and think it is hilarious. I bet my dad would have been one of them.

I tried watching the Hairdresser Mysteries last week and turned over after 15 mins. Dire! Sally Phillips seems like a lovely person in real life and she was great in Alan Partridge but I can't help question her 'acting' skills - though she presumably wasn't to blame for the script...

We’ve got my mum staying and she was watching this, it was so awful the acting was so poor I had assumed it was kids TV.

BBC drama.

It's invariably just a ham fisted lecture to educate the public on the evils of xyz.

ThisOldThang · 08/08/2026 07:06

Lentilcakes · 07/08/2026 19:27

wtf?!?! Must’ve missed that one.

Classic post-pub viewing for students in the late 1990's.

Likeiloveyou · 08/08/2026 07:11

I love Madame Blanc, and enjoyed the first two cheesy episodes of Benidorm is Murder. It’s just easy watching at the end of a hard day at work.

Mrs Browns Boys is an abomination.

That might make it didactic, but hardly the worst programme(s) of all time.

Yes those are all crap. It depends how you define "worst" surely Naked Attraction must be up there?

Yeah, and Love Island, Paradise Hotel, Ex on the Beach etc. Vulgar and braindead shows with vulgar and braindead people starring in them. No, thanks.

I was a student in the early 90s so had moved on a bit by then 😝
