Hello Diane 👋 🤣 how many Mumsnet quotes can you fit in to a series.

Tomrrowandtomorrowandtommorrow · 23/07/2026 10:28

It's really mid. I thought it might have more bite coming from Morgan. One thing that has me transfixed though is Sue's hair. It's so beautiful.

Corianda · 23/07/2026 10:38

Paul Ready played the ship’s doctor in Terror ( brilliant scary series about ships seeking the NW Passage) -he was really good

Sue’s hair looked like a wig.

Sue’s hair looked like a wig.

I think she does wear wigs? Looks good though. She's fabulous.

I saw a video on bbc breakfast someone took of her and Ricky T dancing. She was so agile. I wonder what exercise she does?

Oh yes, of course that was him! I loved that show. Brilliant.

Paul Ready played Lee in Utopia.
Interrogating, torturing psychopath.
Stole every scene he was in. 🥄

I really dislike the Michael character, which I suppose is what we are supposed to do. I can’t help thinking that Sue made a bad job of raising him, if that was her only role. I didn’t like the bumbling Kevin character either. I just wonder what sort of women would actually marry men like these.

I'd marry him.

I think he's lovely.

Corianda · 22/07/2026 22:10

It was good but the characters were all a bit ott. Michael an idiot, his gf evil bitch, the shop owner a mad bag lady, the old man so scruffy, the very pervy husband, Sue on the other hand was a bit too astute to be a doddery 80 year old - but it did make me laugh -just wish DM had calmed it all down a bit.
Im surprised everyone was so moved at the end -I mean Michael was getting it on with a sex robot - hmmmm

Edited

I actually disagree and liked the fact an 80 year old woman wasnt shown as ‘doddery’. Theyre not all, actually. And she did need help despite being very able in lots of other ways.

The actor or character? He certainly wasnt a violent rapist but incredibly selfish. Im homing he grows up and comes good, I think he will.

Corianda · 23/07/2026 19:32

I’m sure the blonde sex robot will make a man of him ….

AutumnLover1990 · 23/07/2026 21:02

Myself and daughter love Diane but we couldn't finish this series. Sad as we were looking forward to it. I don't know why but just wasn't feeling this one 😮

Many 80 year olds are astute. Sue Johnston herself is 82!

Corianda · 24/07/2026 07:34

Yes many are astute - as was Sue Sue Sue and was supposed to be doddery and old and needing a robot in the prog

MilkBreadToiletroll · 24/07/2026 13:37

Sorry if this has already been asked, but what age group is it suitable for? Could I watch with my 12 year-old?

Depends on the dc. Mine would have been fine.

TheSmellOfSea · 24/07/2026 15:40

My dgs is 12 he'd find it funny. I'm trying to think of any overly rude bits?

Littletreefrog · 24/07/2026 15:59

I can't think of any rude bits. There is very very very vague reference to drugs. I think a 12 year old would find some bits funny but the general theme of being old and losing and missing loved ones etc may not resonate with them that much.

Corianda · 24/07/2026 16:06

was t there a finger in hole joke right at the start - in reference to female robot ‘helpers’ no doubt ok for today’s 12 year olds -just a bit surprising for oldie prudes like me 😂

MilkBreadToiletroll · 24/07/2026 18:43

Thanks all ☺️ sounds like we can give it a go.

Which episode did you get to?

We have 2 episodes left.

SabreIsMyFave · 24/07/2026 19:52

Finished it all now, and it was brilliant! Grin

Wish it had been longer, and I really hope they make another series!

Loved it! 😍

Newsenmum · 24/07/2026 22:15

Well what am I going to watch now!
