Which tv shows that you loved did you hate the main character?

I was thinking about some tv shows I loved but realise that I hated the main characters in! My initial list is:

OITNB- I didn’t always hate Piper but I definitely did at times throughout!

Breaking Bad- hate Walter so much.

This Is England- I class Shaun as the main character and can’t stand him.

What about you?

Anyone an Industry fan ? I mean AWFUL people every one of em, but compelling to watch! And yes, loved Succession too!

Horrid Henry was an obnoxious brat and “moody” Margaret was the hero for not putting up with his bullshit the whole time.

Beauty and the beast. Gaston was right the whole time and belle was weird for wanting to fuck the beast. She was obsessed with leaving a perfectly nice village to go out and fuck a literal beast that locked her father in a castle.

Definitely Carrie in sex in the city - she ruined it!
James Nesbitt ruins every show he’s in for me! I will see a new show advertised that sounds great, then I see he’s got the bloody lead role aargh!!😡

Ted was also awful in HIMYM.

Oh yeah forgot about this we should also have a spin off on this thread of villains who weren’t really villains because what did Amanda actually do wrong apart from being blonde, good looking and married to a wealthy man.
Whole story line was built around jealousy and rage at her occasional silly comments

Motherland, could’nt stand Julia

It was Amy Pond for me - as soon as she appeared with her ghastly simpering and daft behaviour I lost all interest.

Her performance in Gentleman Jack is a tour de force.

Dallas, hated J R Ewing.

I cheered when he got shot !

Mulder in the x files. Agree with Succession. Hard to pick for someone to root for. They are all awful people or as Logan would say-not serious people. Epic show that stands up to a rewatch.

I didn’t know that the original version had Carrie as English - would quite like to have seen that.

At some point Jeanne Tripplehorn was cast as Carrie but had to pull out at the last minute. I think she could have carried off taking off her tights and hat and sticking them in a bin.

He’s excellent in Florence Foster Jenkins too.

Also didn't like Jack. The way they went on about him like he was some kind of saint. I don't much like any the main characters in This is Us, yet somehow it's a fabulous show.

I hugely enjoyed Superstore while finding Amy a really difficult character to like. It's a light comedy but she drains it a bit for me.

Same had to stop watching

And gave up on This is Us as too much schmaltz

It’s very good. At the risk of being annoying, though, I have to point out that it’s A Very English Scandal.
’British’ is the other one and the same vein but about the Duke and Duchess of Argyle (Paul Bettany and Claire Foy). Also pretty good, but for me the Hugh Grant one has the edge.

Yeah she's kind of annoying though i got used to her as time went on. Fabulous programme

Gavin and Stacey - they are so bland. Much preferred Smithy, Ness, Pamela, Bryn etc.

The wife and daughter in Landsman can’t remember their names and don’t want to. So insulting to women to portray their characters like that.Ruined what would have been a good show.
