Which tv shows that you loved did you hate the main character?

I was thinking about some tv shows I loved but realise that I hated the main characters in! My initial list is:

OITNB- I didn’t always hate Piper but I definitely did at times throughout!

Breaking Bad- hate Walter so much.

This Is England- I class Shaun as the main character and can’t stand him.

What about you?

Gilmore girls. Hates Lorelei. Silly cow.

I didn't hate Frasier, but out of all of the regular characters, he was definitely the one I had the least interest in.

Didn’t like Jack in This is Us

Not a TV show but a film.. loved for weddings and a funeral but can't stand andie mcdowell

Succession. They are all absolutely loathsome and I still loved the show

I wanted to love Doctor Foster, and enjoyed the plot itself, but Suranne Jones played her terribly. Every word spoken so breathily, constantly pawing at her own hair and face, and just devoid of personality.

Obviously she also became a bit crazy, which I might have sympathised with had she not been so insufferable to begin with.

Couldn’t even finish it.

This I couldn’t actually watch it she annoyed me so much.
Sheldon in both big bang and young sheldon

Poldark. Fucking twat the way he treated Demelza.
Friends. Couldn't stand Ross.

I know what you mean. I think he was often more of a foil for the others though, and deliberately had less interesting storylines for himself.
I can’t really think of any. If I love a TV show I tend to love it precisely because I love (or at least can understand/feel something for) the characters.

Does it count if I loved Doctor Who for countless seasons then absolutely couldn't stand The Doctor from the minute Peter Capaldi left the studio? 😂

Del Boy is horrible in Only Fools and Horses, and I didn't realise he was supposed to be a "lovable type", apart from very occasionally he's nothing but a selfish arsehole. I do love the show though.

Motherland! Loved the series but didn't like Julie. Loving everyone in the spin off series Amandaland though.

Slow Horses. I don't like the character played by Gary Oldman but a lot of the humour derives from him being a selfish slob.

Elizabeth Keen in the Blacklist prevents me from rewatching it. Technically the main character is probably Reddington so does this count?

Loved watching Ally McBeal when it was on, but thought Ally was a dick

Really unlikeable character and terrible actress.

Her daughter Margaret Qualley is way more talented which is an interesting reversal of the nepobaby dynamic.

Babies. The main male actors voice was incredibly annoying. And a total affectation as he has been in loads of other things and spoken perfectly normally. God it was irritating. "Posaiiiiv"

I hated Derek Shepard. Vile man. Treated Meredith terribly and she STILL ran around after him.

Carrie from SATC. The original mean girl. And spent all of her money on shoes but couldn’t wash her hair..?

Her and Rory both annoying - still watched it all though!

You basically don’t like any characters called Ross then 😂

Does anyone else remember Hill Street Blues in the 1980s? I couldn't stand Joyce Davenport. Obviously she was very beautiful but she was so smug and arrogant. So many quirky characters in that show too.
