New 8 part drama for a Saturday night

The drama stars Jessica Raine (The Devil's Hour, Patrick Melrose), Damien Molony (Bergerac, Brassic), Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Still Up), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, The Book of Clarence), Leila Farzard (Kaos, I Hate Suzie) and Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, Fleabag).

Written and created by Catherine Shepherd (‘Sally4Ever', ‘The Shrink Next Door'), ‘Two Weeks in August' follows the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life.

But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare

The synopsis continues: "Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.

old wounds are re-opened, sending the group in a chaotic spiral that soon begins to snowball, threatening to upend each of their lives in unexpected

When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame.

Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play?

We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…

Leading star Jessica said "the big question of the series is how the audience is going to respond to a character like Zoe".

"The decisions she makes to get what she wants, and the consequences because of that," continued the actress.

"The idea of a woman deciding not to sacrifice everything, of choosing to put herself first, unfortunately still feels revolutionary.

I think every woman feels that, and that’s what I think will appeal.

Crikey I was stressed out by the first episode, put me off ever going on holiday with anyone else again!

I was so stressed by all the steps, the pool that you can't see from the house, the lax child supervision - I was convinced something terrible was going to happen!

Coupled with having a room on an open corridor, not being able to drink the water (and there being no supermarket deliveries!) - I want to go home!

Oh and don't forget the Greek Island plumbing system of no toilet paper down the loo!

Oh yes that as well!

StellaAndCrow · 26/05/2026 09:51

They really need to hire a car and stock up with water and drinks!

Yes and they're not even getting taxis anywhere!

I’ve never holidayed on an island because I’m too worried about an emergency happening and how hard it may be to leave the island. Day trips, fine, but nothing more.

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 26/05/2026 09:55

I’ve never been to Greece. (Changed planes in Malta once or twice.) But I’m thinking, with the plumbing arrangements at the house, and no air conditioning, it must surely have had a certain … odour, in the heat?

(I’ve spent plenty of time in tropical countries , but the loos always worked, even if you had to carry the water to the cistern yourself. I once applied for a work thing that would have meant staying in a South American property with the same hygiene limitations as this house. Was quite relieved when I didn’t get it.)

the80sweregreat · 26/05/2026 10:12

It’s not good is it. A longish walk to get even basic supplies, the plumbing , the stairs at the house , the fact the pool isn’t close by the rooms and a nanny who doesn’t seem to care if the younger children drown or not.
The posh couple liked its energy .. I think it looks like hard work really.

I'm annoyed as the young bloke is just using Jacob and they obviously have completely different outlooks on life based on their little convo about marriage. I didn't like the way he was trying to convince Jacob that it was OK for Dan to have kissed Jess when they are supposed to be in committed relationships (married).

I think Jacob should tell him to pass off really. But Nat is doing a good job of making him see for himself.

Also hated the way Nat spread the word of the kiss. They are all horrible people really and I can't warm to any of them atm.

I think Jacob is lacking confidence and experience, and so he and doesn’t see the different outlooks, also maybe enjoying the attention and good sex from / with a much younger man.

I don’t think they read the reviews of this place that well. Most would avoid it

I'd never have taken kids on that holiday. They're just being left to screen time and kicking a ball around, they might as well be at home.

the80sweregreat · 26/05/2026 11:42

It has an olde world charm I suppose if you like that kind of thing , but not for younger children and Avery is bored. The pool is only exciting for so long and too hot to be interesting all day long for kids.

I think we have to assume that they’re not just hanging out at the villa all day every day. They’re there for two weeks. They’ll be visiting local sites and beaches and cafes etc- the things you do on that sort of holiday.

AiAiAi · 26/05/2026 12:30

We watched the 4th episode last night and at the end it never came up with the 'Next episode ' box in the bottom right hand corner so we assumed the other episodes hadn't been released?

But it seems they have.

(or I could be going mad)

I think all episodes were showing on BBC iplayer when I looked, but I may be wrong.

Meredusoleil · 26/05/2026 12:34

Yes. Just checked again. They are on there. But I think it didn't say next episode between 1 and 2 either. So maybe it never does with this series?

Sidebeforeself · 26/05/2026 12:37

I have enjoyed this. It’s made me want to lose weight so I could wear some of the nice clothes the women are wearing ( me? Shallow?!)

I'm almost certain it said Next Episode, with 15 second countdown for previous episodes but maybe I'm imagining it 😀.
I'll keep an eye out at the end of episode 5.

I’ve watched all episodes and it said next episode right at the end of the credits whereas normally it says it much earlier

I’ve watched the first episode and enjoyed it. I thought the writing for the Damien Molony character was particularly well done - the dynamic with him and his wife was well observed and him complaining on holiday about the cost of everything - very credible.

I have no idea where any of this is going and I like it.

I like him from Gameface. I am three episodes in and enjoying it. They don't look nearly as sweaty as I will be in Greece in August 😆
