New 8 part drama for a Saturday night

The drama stars Jessica Raine (The Devil's Hour, Patrick Melrose), Damien Molony (Bergerac, Brassic), Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Still Up), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, The Book of Clarence), Leila Farzard (Kaos, I Hate Suzie) and Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, Fleabag).

Written and created by Catherine Shepherd (‘Sally4Ever', ‘The Shrink Next Door'), ‘Two Weeks in August' follows the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life.

But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare

The synopsis continues: "Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.

old wounds are re-opened, sending the group in a chaotic spiral that soon begins to snowball, threatening to upend each of their lives in unexpected

When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame.

Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play?

We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…

Leading star Jessica said "the big question of the series is how the audience is going to respond to a character like Zoe".

"The decisions she makes to get what she wants, and the consequences because of that," continued the actress.

"The idea of a woman deciding not to sacrifice everything, of choosing to put herself first, unfortunately still feels revolutionary.

I think every woman feels that, and that’s what I think will appeal.

Episode two (which was on last Saturday night ) on the boat , Jacob asks the boat owner if he has heard of ‘ world up ‘ a charity for refugees that he works for . I loved his answer ‘ no ‘ ! It was just the way he said it. Made me laugh.

Raising awareness of world inequality, like nobody is going to have any clue about this without World Up’s intervention. These posho pseudo charities probably do secure excellent funding just based on networking alone and put it towards activities not necessarily beneficial to those experiencing the rough side of the wealth gap

the80sweregreat · 26/05/2026 14:35

Oh I’ve no doubt that Jacob’s job is just as a penpusher or an activist of some kind ( activity co ordinator ?)
He didn’t make it clear really did he.
Not dissing charities , but his particular one sounded a bit fluffy.

In a later episode that I watched today he says in works in human rights.

They're all such awful, self centred people! I think Nat is the worst, so manipulative.

I like him from Gameface. I am three episodes in and enjoying it. They don't look nearly as sweaty as I will be in Greece in August 😆

Apparently it was filmed in March and it was chilly enough for thermals and hot water bottles to be hidden underneath those summer outfits!

MorganaLeFey · 26/05/2026 17:00

I am enjoying this as so much of it rings so very, very true with 'friends' holidays ... especially the kitty and the bedroom in the corridor!

I am not convinced about the amazing mobile phone coverage though ... there is no way they would have that coverage at all ... yes, this is really, really annoying me!

And why do they just NOT answer the damn phone!

Yes ZOE ... you when your Mum is calling!

Set some bloody boundaries for goodness sake!

Rant over!

There is more but obviously no spoilers.

Enjoy!

Really enjoyed this series - well written and some great acting.

Thank you @SwedishEdith

I just finished watching it. Very satisfying ending to a great series!

fundamentallyauthentic · 26/05/2026 20:49

I finished it earlier as I had no inclination to wait until July and loved it all. This is the first six hour drama I’ve watched since Happy Valley series 2 in 2016 where I felt the pacing sustained for all episodes. The main story and sub-plots were relatable and compelling, the characterisation superb, and the acting was fabulous - what a pleasure to see this cast at their best.

sunhat100 · 27/05/2026 11:31

I've binge watched the whole thing - perfect for this heat 😂🥵 and think it's a really good watch, you should definitely give it a go 😁
I would liken it to The White Lotus, British style

purpleme12 · 27/05/2026 23:08

They're a funny combination of friends

Yes I thought that - great to watch when it's sweltering. I found there to some really funny moments. Really enjoying it.

Silverbirchleaf · 28/05/2026 11:50

If you can be enjoying something, and haven’t got a clue what’s going on, then that’s me. Also, I keep muddling up the relationships, and who came with whom. Lovely location though.

Many replies are from those who have watched all

I don’t know why on a tv pace thread - that people come on and say I’ve seen them all tbh

I'm bingeing this today. It's great - really well written and brilliantly acted. The dinner table scene in episode 1 was so perfectly excruciating

God, Leila Farzad is gorgeous, isn't she? So curvy and luscious

WHY is there no shade around that pool though?! Dear god, you would be sweltering and burned to a crisp 😲

The whole villa set up is making me wonder who on earth booked it! All those steps, pool not visible from the house, tiny crappy kitchen, dodgy bedroom off the loo. I feel sressed even without the god-awful company!

WallaceinAnderland · 28/05/2026 18:14

I think the villa was supposed to induce stress in the viewers. The heat, the inconvenience of being in the middle of nowhere, the useless nanny and weird neighbours. It's not comfortable viewing.

I've watched it all thinking there was going to be some point to it and there isn't. It's literally some people on a badly planned holiday.
