New 8 part drama for a Saturday night

The drama stars Jessica Raine (The Devil's Hour, Patrick Melrose), Damien Molony (Bergerac, Brassic), Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Still Up), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, The Book of Clarence), Leila Farzard (Kaos, I Hate Suzie) and Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, Fleabag).

Written and created by Catherine Shepherd (‘Sally4Ever', ‘The Shrink Next Door'), ‘Two Weeks in August' follows the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life.

But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare

The synopsis continues: "Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.

old wounds are re-opened, sending the group in a chaotic spiral that soon begins to snowball, threatening to upend each of their lives in unexpected

When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame.

Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play?

We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…

Leading star Jessica said "the big question of the series is how the audience is going to respond to a character like Zoe".

"The decisions she makes to get what she wants, and the consequences because of that," continued the actress.

"The idea of a woman deciding not to sacrifice everything, of choosing to put herself first, unfortunately still feels revolutionary.

I think every woman feels that, and that’s what I think will appeal.

I thought that Zoe's husband had worked out that Zoe had stolen it from Jess and then Zoe's husband put it back in her purse. I thought that's what they were talking about early on in the episode

But now I'm wondering if I've got that wrong 😆

I thought that too.
But I never twigged she had bought a very expensive dress with stolen money and didn’t “get” the scene where her husband finds the dress stuffed deep in a cupboard.
The series started off with us the viewers and the others with her on holiday feeling so sorry for Zoe with such a selfish git of a husband but we and the other holidaymakers are now feeling sorry for him with such a selfish wife.

why does Zoe keep seeing naked /old woman

It's the Moirai, or Fates

@Beachtastic Thank you for the links. i vaguely remember they were mentioned early on in the series, but hadn’t connected the naked lady either them. I kept thinking she was a strange friend I’d forgotten about.

I think there's a lot to be said for binge-watching the entire series on iPlayer 🫣😁

I don’t think Zoe stole the money. And where did she buy the dress which looked like a white nightie I have

I think Jess put the money in the make up purse and forgot

It is tempting to comment on some of this but I am not sure what episode this thread is up to! It would be good for those who have finished to look at the Spoilers thread of this same series. Many of the points raised on here have been thrashed out - no one seems to understand everything though ...

Zoe's white dress. OK, I can do this because it was in Ep. 1 - I just happened to clock this. When they all went to the market - and Z and Dan went on to buy the fish from the shop - there is a lingering gaze on the white dress hanging up above some women on a stall.

Oh thanks @MulberryBrandy

Oh and Flick, she of the OTT party host couple, recognises it as local and comments on it when they arrive at the party.

I couldn’t follow the last episode at all…it was really dark and I couldn’t see. And what was with Zoe vomiting up the string? Liked the Dynasty style cat fight in the pool though!

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 23/06/2026 12:08

Also…being a maiden (?) doesn’t imply breasts constantly being out does it?

the80sweregreat · 23/06/2026 12:14

Was the string she was bringing up was something to do with Greek legends ? The fates ? Hence the half naked woman too.
It was probably significant, but I admit it went over my head too as I get the Greek and Roman gods mixed up and I don’t know the stories that well. The fight was good fun though.

Isn’t there usually some kind of gratuitous boob scene in most programmes. 🙄

The string was alluding to the idea that the Fates spin, measure and cut the 'thread' of everyone's life.
