New 8 part drama for a Saturday night

The drama stars Jessica Raine (The Devil's Hour, Patrick Melrose), Damien Molony (Bergerac, Brassic), Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Still Up), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, The Book of Clarence), Leila Farzard (Kaos, I Hate Suzie) and Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, Fleabag).

Written and created by Catherine Shepherd (‘Sally4Ever', ‘The Shrink Next Door'), ‘Two Weeks in August' follows the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life.

But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare

The synopsis continues: "Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.

old wounds are re-opened, sending the group in a chaotic spiral that soon begins to snowball, threatening to upend each of their lives in unexpected

When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame.

Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play?

We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…

Leading star Jessica said "the big question of the series is how the audience is going to respond to a character like Zoe".

"The decisions she makes to get what she wants, and the consequences because of that," continued the actress.

"The idea of a woman deciding not to sacrifice everything, of choosing to put herself first, unfortunately still feels revolutionary.

I think every woman feels that, and that’s what I think will appeal.

Blonds. It is a spoiler , but it’s not much and won’t spoil anything. Just ignore it.

I just realised this. I thought this was on the other thread. Ignore me!

Theimpossiblegirl · 31/05/2026 21:04

I'm really enjoying this so far.

Trying to avoid spoilers as I'm looking forward to it all unraveling. The villa would absolutely stress me out with kids.

I think they drank the kitty on the first night!

SabrinaThwaite · 31/05/2026 22:05

Just to say, and not a spoiler - but there’s a shout out to Neil Finn and Crowded House coming for the 80s nerds.

(Which would be from the time when this bunch were about 5, but I’m not complaining).

Watching on Catch Up. Nearly at the end of episode 2. Rather good I am finding this!

Augustus40 · 02/06/2026 07:21

It got really silly by episode four so have stopped watching it.

I think that’s what happens with a lot of groups. You meet at uni, all grow in different directions, all try and stay in touch, but you’re all changing.

I do get this, but I think they all speak to each other as if they've never met!
It is very much a White Lotus rip-off, well the music anyway, and the situation to an extent, but the social mileu is quite different.
I think the island looks incredibly barren and dry, not particularly attractive. I quite like the villa though; it's the kind of place me and my friends would go to and love Grin
I don't think the dialogue is particularly good, but I'm watching it as it's an easy and trashy watch for when I don't have any brainpower left after a day of work.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/06/2026 13:57

They def don’t seem to be friends - makes you wonder how often they meet up since uni

Yeah, I think history is the only thing holding them together. They don't seem to have much in common these days, except maybe Nat and Jacob (in a rather unhealthy way though!)

It must be about 20 years since they left uni, so they will have drifted apart, especially when some are single, and some are married with children, and others have new partners with children from current and former relationships.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/06/2026 09:52

I wonder if they meet up every few years ? Or it’s just a 20yr reunion plus someone’s bday

I didn't get the impression this was the first time since uni they'd met up; surely they'd have made a big thing about that if so?
There was just a comment about how 'we're all so busy we have to come to Greece to catch up,' which makes me think they do get together, just rarely.

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 03/06/2026 12:16

There was a brilliant observation by Cormoran Strike in one of the Strike novels - about how men need a specific event, generally sport related, to prompt meeting up. That they just don’t go to each others houses unless women drag them. Whereas women seem to find it easier to meet up casually. (Actually a young adult in my family observed something similar in a shared uni flat - having been at a single sex school he was astonished at the way the young women were always in and out of each other’s rooms on the slightest pretext.)

Point being - I suspect the women in this story: Zoe, Nat, Jess (or maybe the ex, Lisa, without Jess) probably keep in touch regularly via phone and WhatsApp, and may occasionally meet up in broken pairs. And the men only see each other when pushed to do so - particularly if there’s a crisis.

FWIW I finished it and think it's worth sticking with. I thought it was quite punchy and had some😳😮😬worthwhile moments, lol.

OK, now I'm intrigued enough to stick with it!

the80sweregreat · 03/06/2026 18:18

Blossom , I like the Strike novels. I’ve yet to read the latest one though.
I agree that men and women with friends is a different dynamic. Nat and Jacob seem close , but maybe they live near each other or something like that so tend to meet up more ( plus don’t have children or any other baggage’ )

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 03/06/2026 18:38

@ConstanzeMozart

Hope you enjoy it. I binged the last two episodes. The mere fact that it wasn't a police/crime drama was a plus for me 😬.
