What are your thoughts on Amandaland?
I really tried to like it. I really did.
but for me it just isn’t as good as motherland. I just don’t think the characters are distinctive enough to really stand out and identify with like in motherland. But I gave see on a few thread and fab groups that people like Amandaland and it’s just as good.

Motherland is a hard act to follow.

At least Paul says “I’ve left mum watching Millionaire”. That’s what me and my family call it too. Millionaire.

It was bugging me watching snoozily last night where I’d heard Amanda’s boss/“co lab”’s voice before. He was the head mechanic in the work experience episode of the Inbetweeners which is where I think I recognised him from, but he’s been in quite a lot.

My favourite episode is The Cavalry. I’ve also used that one to remind DH how lucky we are with our parents!

I think but not sure he’s my brother’s friend from Hackney! They did a short film together a few years ago.

Cavan is my brother’s mate. I’ve only met him once.

To pp who wondered if Cavan was single. He’s married! But lives in Hackney if you want to stalk him.

Series 2 completely fantastic, loved every word. Laughed out loud constantly, hurry up and make the next series !!!

I think the issue with Amanda land is none of the peripheral characters are funny. The only funny people are Amanda, her mum and Anne, who were all in motherland. How or why have they made a whole new cast of completely unfunny characters. All the characters in motherland were funny and interesting in their own right

I'm really enjoying series 2. It is sillier than motherland but still works well. Some excellent script writing.

We were watching The Cavalry and as the parents tried and repeatedly failed to cross the road DH said, Oh my God, are we like that? Sobering.

Agree. Way too much Darius, JJ, Ned, Fi and Georgie. Unfunny characters.

I did laugh at the storyline about JJ cancelling the direct debit and then finding out it was for the broadband. My dh is always doing things like that.

Love Amandaland! Just finished the second series and Mal’s ex was an inspired addition to the cast. Motherland is spoiled by the twat husband, if Julia had been a single parent then I could have watched it. Not keen on that actress though so maybe not.

I think we see him at the fridge at Christmas? Does he actually do something useful at the end of that and sort some cooking or something?

No idea!

I quite like the twat husband. There must be ones out there like that.
