yah it’s back. The easy watching murders and guessing which of the usually 4 suspects did it

The 15th season of the beloved, sun-dappled detective show will start airing on 30th January 2026, with the first episode airing at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

We don't yet know much about what will take place in the new episodes, but we do know that Don Gilet will be back as DI Mervin Wilson (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/death-in-paradise-cast/), along with Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Ginny Holder as Officer Darlene Curtis, Shaquille Ali-Yebuah as Officer Sebastian Rose and Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey.

Meanwhile, we're expecting Don Warrington to return as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, after his future on the series was thrown into doubt all through last season. Esp after the Christmas episode

After he decided not to take his job back at the end of season 14, he was seen visiting the UK in the Christmas special.

Coming to realise how important his job and Saint Marie were to him, Patterson was seen calling the chief commissioner at the end of that episode, asking if his role was still vacant (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/death-in-paradise-selwyn-wants-job-back-newsupdate/) and whether he could return to it.

Meanwhile, season 15 is also likely to see Mervin getting to know the brother he never knew he had, after he managed to make contact with him briefly in the Christmas special.

I’ve watched on bbc iPlayer. Will be back to discuss once it’s been aired.

I’ve several comments to make; let’s hope by tomorrow I’ll remember them, as currently watching tonight’s episode of betrayal on ITVX, as will be watching last nights masked singer final later.

I managed to stay awake but didn’t quite understand it. Another ‘the gunshot you heard wasn’t the gunshot that killed him’ episode. Confused with the neighbour and Horrible Histories guy: were they both searching for the victim independently?

NewAgeNewMe · 17/02/2026 07:47

It was a bit Agatha Christie. Knew where the book and gun, were as soon as I saw the sculptures. That’s straight out of Agatha’s The Hollow.

Feeling it’s lost its way a bit as well. Watched a couple of earlier ones at the weekend and they were so much better.

Still I’m enjoying the sun drenched island especially looking out the rains here.

Siobhan Finneran was colluding with Ghosts man to kill retired hitman, but he got in first and shot himself. SF found his body in the early morning and read his suicide note revealing that Ghosts man had paid for the hitman to kill his wife. SF decided the best way to revenge her friend was to set up the husband for killing the hitman. That's why she hid all the evidence that it was suicide and deceived the gardener into thinking the shot they heard was the fatal one. You would have thought the pathologist and the crack Saint Marie detectives would have wondered how he could be shot at very close range without any signs of a struggle, and also noticed that he had been dead for a lot longer than a few minutes when they first arrived, but I suppose the absence of the gun made them certain from the off that this was murder.

It's probably not as good as it was but it was always hokum, frankly. Still love it.

RaraRachael · 17/02/2026 09:19

I know it was never high quality drama but I'm finding if hard to engage with this series. I've fallen asleep during episodes and can hardly remember the stories.

I really don't like the new inspector. I don't know what it is but I find him irritating.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/02/2026 09:30

When I saw the cracked pot I knew it was a spare /second fake shot

but thought was gardener

always nice to see the general from ghosts

They seem to like having more than one killer this series. Found it quite confusing last night but loved the reveal that husband actually put a hit on his wife 10 years previously and that the hitman felt so bad he spent the last 10 years atoning.

Lunde · 17/02/2026 14:07

I think "the shot was not the shot" has been a bit done to death - wasn't it even in the episode, years ago, at the hostel where Humphrey met Martha?

Also it took them ages to think about why an international hitman would let someone creep about their garden.

tinyspiny · 17/02/2026 14:14

So far the murders in this series all seem to have been lifted from other programmes with just a slight tweak but it is light and enjoyable and I suppose there are only so many ways you can kill someone and hide a weapon . At least the acting was marginally improved this week .
