yah it’s back. The easy watching murders and guessing which of the usually 4 suspects did it

The 15th season of the beloved, sun-dappled detective show will start airing on 30th January 2026, with the first episode airing at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

We don't yet know much about what will take place in the new episodes, but we do know that Don Gilet will be back as DI Mervin Wilson (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/death-in-paradise-cast/), along with Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Ginny Holder as Officer Darlene Curtis, Shaquille Ali-Yebuah as Officer Sebastian Rose and Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey.

Meanwhile, we're expecting Don Warrington to return as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, after his future on the series was thrown into doubt all through last season. Esp after the Christmas episode

After he decided not to take his job back at the end of season 14, he was seen visiting the UK in the Christmas special.

Coming to realise how important his job and Saint Marie were to him, Patterson was seen calling the chief commissioner at the end of that episode, asking if his role was still vacant (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/death-in-paradise-selwyn-wants-job-back-newsupdate/) and whether he could return to it.

Meanwhile, season 15 is also likely to see Mervin getting to know the brother he never knew he had, after he managed to make contact with him briefly in the Christmas special.

So now we have the niece. It’s getting ridiculous. Concentrate on the stories not the family life unless it’s interesting. This brother story just seems odd and not entertaining.

Totally agree . I was pleased when Don Gilet took over as I’m not a fan of the previous chap but the storyline they are giving him is ridiculous . Where was this daughter in all the previous episodes that the brother was in and how has she got to the shack ? I said after last weeks episode that you have to take it as very light entertainment but I am reaching the point of giving up .

I always say I'm not going to watch any more of DIP but OH and I end up watching it but we both said that this series has been even more shite than usual.

I agree, it’s becoming ridiculous. It’s not enough that his mum was murdered before he could find her, he has an awful feckless brother and now some seemingly annoying niece has turned up.

I’m not keen on Beyond Paradise as that is more like a soap, focussing too much on Humphrey and Martha, I hope DiP doesn’t go the same way.

The neice is awful. A know it all brat. Just what the series needed.

A lot of TV writers are very poor at knowing the difference between comedy and cringe. DIP really doesn’t need an endless parade of “comedy” characters. It’s not the Benny Hill show, focus on making the crimes more interesting and less clichéed and send the niece home to school and her parents.

Totally agree @2Rebecca . Nor does it need family backstories. I know the plots aren't high quality drama but there is s limit.

Yes, it was, I did actually enjoy the Christmas special! And I’ll be watching the new series tomorrow, just wish it was a bit more ‘murdery’.

Ds and I have started watching Beyond Paradise and we are enjoying it. It’s a bit more adult though. Nobody is dead yet and we love Humphrey so all good. “Mummy do you think Humphrey has got ADHD like us?” 😂
