I think she has been in relationships with emotionally detached men. The fact she hasn’t left Steven and is looking for ways to change herself to appease him is indicative of that.

I have a version of this in my head where the public vote on who should be matched, so you can vote online for far more normal people, who we have seen at home, work, with friends, doing hobbies etc. They'd obviously be able to whittle down into groups, but if you have groups who want a family, have traditional values and like like going to the gym, we could see maybe 5 of each sex and match them. Then the next episode would be the people who have been cheated on and need stability and people who like looking after others have strong routines, etc. I reckon the hit rate would be double that of the experts. We could immediately weedle out the coke heads and fame seekers.

I agree, she deserved better. How did they think it was okay to match this successful early 30s dentist with no kids/ex husband with a man who has all this going on.

I think she must have indicated she was open to a man with kids during their selection process though - which also points to the fact she needs higher standards and to consider her own needs more . Now a man with kids is not necessarily a bad match for everyone, but for someone like her I think it is.

For all we know Nelly may well have had therapy . I do think though the issue with therapy is people can have loads of it and take a break from dating, but then once they’re in a new relationship it’s like it all goes out the window. The old wounds are reopened and the old triggers are reawakened etc. unless you happen to be with someone who is your perfect match or at least treats you very well.

I think once she’s back in ‘the real world’ she needs to engage in ongoing therapy whether that’s reading books and journaling or going to a counsellor or a bit of both the next time she’s dating. She probably gets good advice from her friends and family but I know women like her. They’re very slow to listen to their social circle but a counsellor may be able to get through to her.

I read a spoiler about Steven thats not really a spoiler anymore but part of it was that he had been approached to go on the show rather than applying.
I know there are agents for reality tv ‘talent’ and it explains why quite a few people on such shows have been on other things or are trying to make it as influencers- basically people with no talent or skills grafting their way to z list fame.

Seeing as JR is a dancer and Divani is a ‘musician, model, actor’ it makes you wonder how many of these people are actually getting on via agents with zero interest in finding love - would also explain Dean trying to rinse pennies from his 2 seconds of limelight.

The contestants usually come out and complain about the edit, when theyve behaved appallingly, but this year I would have to believe them 🤷‍♀️

I’m sure I read somewhere before this series that agents of contestants are approached to go on the show, maybe mafs aus.
I guess they have genuine applicants but look around for people who might give good tv too, maybe not everyone genuinely looking for love on tv as a last resort is as confident as some of the ones who have their agents 🤣🫣

I might be overthinking this one, but remembering the awful cases of those police officers going undercover and starting full blown relationships with women.
Wouldn’t someone like Nelly feel similar? Genuinely looking for love and marriage, having sex with someone, living alone with them, someone, who then flips and is aggressive to you…..to find out they’re ‘acting’ for the show, for so called fame.
I have heard people getting approached for the show, these try hard ‘look at me’ types and obviously people in real life get duped in romance scams.
But it does feel all wrong when you think about it, that they’d purposely mix genuine hopefuls with the ‘I’ll do anything for money’ lot. How do they write that in the consenting forms?

Part of me says, relax it’s just a programme, grab yourself a gin ….but there is this niggle of wrongness
