As all episodes are available on iPlayer thought I would start a binge thread for any like me who find it easier to follow a story line when there isn't a gap of 7 days.

Riot Women

No apologies - just noise. Five fierce women crank up the volume to get their voices heard. Sally Wainwright's riotous drama with Joanna Scanlan, Tamsin Greig and Rosalie Craig.

Pretty much all the men were awful, I know it’s a series showing how much shit women have to put up with but surely there’s the odd nice bloke out there?!

Yes, Holly's son would've been better as a decent, supportive young man. I thought he was one knob too far.

Brilliant series! I’ve just binge watched it across 2 days. 😅 really hope there’s a season 2 as there’s so much more to explore!

The sons’ horror at their mothers, and general taking of them for granted, was excellent and true to life I felt. As was her being constantly interrupted while she’s hovering at the brink of life and death.

Kitty’s dad is lying for his own purposes, but I find it beyond unlikely that the henchmen of a crime boss would mess with his daughter. That was a real plot weakness, imo.

Great casting, and great balancing of competing priorities, complicated family relationships and quiet desperation.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 09/01/2026 17:04

Oh, and I think Tom’s adopted dad wasn’t a heel either- he gently challenged Tom’s suggestion that Kitty was somehow complicit in her own abuse, ‘She was twelve!’.

Glad to hear there will be a second series but I hope it won't be the Kitty Eckersley Show this time around, that's been done now.

I think that that it’ll be Kitty and her new friends getting a lot of revenge on a lot of men. I doubt that it’ll be subtle.

Sadly it does seem to have been set up that way.

I have just binge watched this in the last few days. I know I am several months behind everyone else. However, I have a question. Did Kitty deliberately lie to everyone about her age at Tom's conception? Will this come up in series 2?

I ask this because she gives her date of birth as February 1981 when she registers at A and E. We are told that Tom was born in 1993. This means that she was 12, not 13 when he was born, and 11, not 12 when he was conceived.

What Kitty went through is horrific whatever her exact age. I just wondered if this was deliberate?

I am also hoping that Tom was given more support than we saw him getting. I know that he acts like a right numpty on many occasions. However, he does need some help dealing with everything.

I think she said she “would have been about 13” but the time he arrived. If he was born at the end of the year, she would have been very close to 13 - and 12 ad conception.

At the end, one of the three men named, that is the police chief, is that Holly’s (Tamsin Greig’s) ex?

Bit of a leap but I initially wondered if it is the father (not a character) of the awful male officer who photos Nisha. It would fit the narrative that someone high ranking would have the force, plus entitlement, run in the family.
That’s before everyone pointed out Keith’s ulterior motives (knew something was off there!) though!
