I really think it’s absolutely brilliant. Really well written and acted with powerful storylines . That’s a rare thing these days. Also no gratuitous swearing and sexual content, also very rare. You can actually focus on the storytelling.

Completely agree with this. Fab!

I don’t feel bad for Shane’s dad - he’s really controlling and dismissive of Shane’s career. He should just be glad that he’s alive and hasn’t lost his leg!

I thought it was a great finale to this season. Especially the welcome back that Shane was given.

i can see where he is coming from.
His wife died when Shane was young.
He doesn’t want to lose Shane.
He has a good, safe business to hand over.
Shane has chosen a dangerous job.
Certainly in the past Catholics had a tough time in the police force - the RUC.
We see it in the present series too where Annie can’t even go to her mother’s funeral.
The name Shane would be deemed a Catholic name afaik.
He mentioned Newry which would be looked on as a Catholic area.
His father may be a Nationalist but against violence.
Shane’s dad may be just a man worried about his beloved son.

Shane’s dad may be just a man worried about his beloved son.

Well yes, of course! Especially in the context you describe. But he still wants to control him and doesn’t respect Shane’s desire/right to do what he wants.

No choice for some of us as no iPlayer access . Tried to remember but what was the significance of the FOR SALE sign ? Are they leaving or what ? And where did Grace's son go ? Great visual scenes of Belfast and surrounding areas . Probably end up on the tourist trail like GOT sites .

I didn't think Shane's dad was controlling, he just wanted him home where he'd be safe , because, at the time, they thought he was going to lose his leg, and wouldn't be accepted back into the Police.

Really enjoyed this series, shame it's finished .

I thought it means buying a place together

@Soonenough I haven’t rewatched but I assumed Grace’s son had moved (back?) to the UK as it was too hard growing up mixed race in NI. I feel like I remember that issue when he was in it.

In season 2 she said he’d gone to uni in Manchester (or somewhere like that) so assume he’s still away given not a lot of time is meant to have passed between seasons 2 & 3.

I see Stevie has turned up in the bar as the brother of the main character Cushla in Trespasses the new series set in Northern Ireland on Channel 4.
I think it was him. Just got quick glimpses.
