The Guest, the upcoming BBC thriller starring Eve Myles, has unveiled a devilish new trailer.

The four-part series (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a65286088/the-guest-first-look-bbc/) sees the Broadchurch (https://www.digitalspy.com/broadchurch/)and Torchwood (https://www.digitalspy.com/torchwood/) star portray Fran, a business owner who is thrust into a "toxic and beguiling" relationship with one of her employees, Ria (Gabrielle Creevy).

The Guest is a hugely entertaining, deftly plotted thriller that will have viewers gripped," said Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, while Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning for BBC Cymru Wales, dubbed it a "a twisty-turny edge of your seat thriller".

"Ria has never had the time or opportunity to think about what she might actually want from the world," reads the logline.

"So, when she starts cleaning for Fran, she’s intoxicated by this confident and self-assured woman who encourages her to take control of her life.

When Ria flourishes, an intense friendship is forged. However, when Fran’s advice leads to a shocking event, the lives of these two very different women become intertwined by shared secrets and dangerous plots."

However, when Fran's advice leads to a shocking event, the lives of these two very different women become intertwined by shared secrets and dangerous plots.

What follows is a compelling and manipulative game of cat and mouse. But just who is playing who?"

Yes the house is too flash and they'd need a team of cleaners to keep on top of that not just one person with a Henry.

I suppose only one person lives there most of the time so probably most of the rooms are unused.

Clearly the rich lady has some sort of ulterior motive in hiring Ria as a cleaner, though it's not yet clear what it is. She's way too friendly, open and generous towards towards a complete stranger.

Yes true it won't be filthy.

I wonder who the curtain twitcher was in the annex bit.

Why do we think it’s called “The Guest”?

Who is is in the guest house?

Fruitandnuts · 01/09/2025 22:20

Oh it was so good! I want to binge watch it all ! Might leave it until friday night 🤓

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/09/2025 22:04

It was an impressive fall

hes def dead dead

My first thought when they showed the staircase at the beginning was ‘that’s a long way down, someone’s going over the bannister’.

BotterMon · 01/09/2025 22:22

It accelerated quickly! Won't binge as then left with nothing to watch. Good start.

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/09/2025 22:26

I thought the focus would be whoever's in the guest house and/or her husband's office.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/09/2025 22:30

Yes I assume the guest is the curtain twitcher

and why did father in law tell her to get out now while she can

He's not the FIL, he's the gardener and the father of the guy she's shagging.

Why do we think it’s called “The Guest”?

Well, yer man there that fell through the chandelier was a guest I suppose?

IcedPurple · 01/09/2025 22:34

Surely Fran will not want to be get involved in covering up what Ria has done?

Unless Ria threatens to use her recording of Fran shagging the gardener's son against her?

But would Fran even care? It's clear she doesn't have a conventional marriage.

WingingItSince1973 · 01/09/2025 23:00

We think Fran set this house sitting up on purpose and came back purposely to see what Ria was upto. Seems like she’s pushing her into things even though she’s only known her a very short while. I bet she helps clear up the dead guy as she seems very odd character. Anyway that’s our thoughts here 🤣🤣🤣

I didn't really like the turn it took, going all Grand Guignol. Seemed an implausibly bold play by Ria. I thought it was going to be as much All About Eve as Parasite, and maybe it still will be. But the ending just reminded me of the Power of Parker, when they threw Sandy out of the window!

And yeah, Blondes, the necklace was awful! More ruin the look, than complete it, I thought.

purpleme12 · 01/09/2025 23:34

Wow, that was a lot

Romeiswheretheheartis · 01/09/2025 23:38

I agree about the necklace.

I wonder what the relevance of the sister is, people don't usually just appear in dramas like this for no reason.

Yes, it did seem a bit odd, the whole set up. And when her husband left and she said 'call me from the airport', he reacted a bit strangely. I wonder if he's still there and lurking in the guest house.

purpleme12 · 01/09/2025 23:58

I didn't like the necklace either

the80sweregreat · 02/09/2025 06:34

The outfit she chose for Ria wasn’t too bad but the necklace was horrible! She is so cold and horrible especially towards her sister and the kids. The ending was epic though. She could have put Harper in a cattery. Saved a lot of clearing up.

LhudeSingCuccu · 02/09/2025 08:00

Gosh, this hogwash was ‘channel 5 level’ of utterly daft and predictable.

As soon as we saw the staircase layout, we said ‘someone’s going to meet their end’ and the creepy gardener warning her to leave bit made us laugh out loud, it’s been done so many times before.
