The Guest, the upcoming BBC thriller starring Eve Myles, has unveiled a devilish new trailer.

The four-part series (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a65286088/the-guest-first-look-bbc/) sees the Broadchurch (https://www.digitalspy.com/broadchurch/)and Torchwood (https://www.digitalspy.com/torchwood/) star portray Fran, a business owner who is thrust into a "toxic and beguiling" relationship with one of her employees, Ria (Gabrielle Creevy).

The Guest is a hugely entertaining, deftly plotted thriller that will have viewers gripped," said Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, while Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning for BBC Cymru Wales, dubbed it a "a twisty-turny edge of your seat thriller".

"Ria has never had the time or opportunity to think about what she might actually want from the world," reads the logline.

"So, when she starts cleaning for Fran, she’s intoxicated by this confident and self-assured woman who encourages her to take control of her life.

When Ria flourishes, an intense friendship is forged. However, when Fran’s advice leads to a shocking event, the lives of these two very different women become intertwined by shared secrets and dangerous plots."

What follows is a compelling and manipulative game of cat and mouse. But just who is playing who?"

Oh sorry for confusion. I am obviously not on the ball.

Very late to the party - I binge watched while on annual leave which coincided with the stormy weather.

Reflections of Keeping Faith which of course starred Eve Myles as well…. the main draw was the stunning house interiors, expensive clothes and beautiful shots of coastal scenery. The actual story line was pretty mediocre but enough to keep me watching.

it looked like the ending has left open the possibly of further series …. Ria wanting a taste of the high life and getting involved in more dodgy stuff? I hope not because this would also mirror Keeping Faith, where series 1 was a decent enough watch after which it just became dire, increasingly ridiculous plots full of holes.

overall verdict: an easy way to pass a very rainy day.
