The Guest, the upcoming BBC thriller starring Eve Myles, has unveiled a devilish new trailer.

The four-part series (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a65286088/the-guest-first-look-bbc/) sees the Broadchurch (https://www.digitalspy.com/broadchurch/)and Torchwood (https://www.digitalspy.com/torchwood/) star portray Fran, a business owner who is thrust into a "toxic and beguiling" relationship with one of her employees, Ria (Gabrielle Creevy).

The Guest is a hugely entertaining, deftly plotted thriller that will have viewers gripped," said Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, while Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning for BBC Cymru Wales, dubbed it a "a twisty-turny edge of your seat thriller".

Especially as they know she lied about drugs being involved in the first place.

You do have to suspend disbelief- surely the police would like to ask Ria many more questions.
Is Fran assessing Ria ( re stealing the vodka ) to see whether she is a risk taker - would she, could she be a drugs mule for Fran.

Fran decided to take her on when she saw her getting into an altercation over nicking food from the charity box in a supermarket. Did she reckon that Ria was desperate and therefore easy prey?

The person who attacked Ria seemed to be female. I wonder if she was a girlfriend Mike never told her about?

That’s a different cottage the one she’s out with the key is by the beach.

She could’ve denied about the drugs and just said no, and obviously he had taken them before he got to hers

I thought that at the end of Ep 2 she’s in the guest house next to the big house, where the curtain twitcher was spotted in Ep 1.

No sign of the family and friends of the poor murdered but not very nice man.
If he knew Fran - he’s seen in her company in the photo then would he not know that Ria was telling him lies re owning the house and running the business ???

Good point! But nobody's being honest. Fran hasn't been straight with Ria, but Ria hasn't been straight with Fran either. Or Lee. Or the police.

Hope that’s a guess and not a spoiler! Unless it was made clear in the episode and I didn’t notice.

Did she say she was his sister? How would she even know the details of how her brother died?

Just watched episode 2 and I don’t know what’s going on! Fran is clearly up to something, stealing the bottle and the weird moment on the bench where she accused Ria of not thanking her for covering for her. It’s all a bit controlling and toxic.

She is definitely going to try and blackmail Ria into doing something and I think Ria will bite back with the video of her shagging her fancy piece in the bathroom.

Im really enjoying it and love both women’s outfits. Fran’s lovely silk shirts and bouncy hair are gorgeous but I’m more of a grungy Ria in dunagrees if I’m honest.

Also do we think there might be a bit of sexual chemistry between the women since fran admitted she’d had sex with women before? Feels like she could be trying to groom Ria a bit…

Ria's already told Fran that she saw them shagging (maybe not that she'd filmed them), I don't think Fran is fazed by that, and I don't think Ria thinks it's much of a lever. I agree that Fran is looking to blackmail, or otherwise pressure Ria, though. But I think it's reached the point now where neither of them trust the other, so this is when it gets really interesting!

I think that Ria is in awe of the worldly and sophisticated Fran, and Fran knows that if she flirts and flatters, Ria is likely to be malleable. I don’t think that either woman is really sexually attracted to the other though.

She could threaten to expose it to the husband though, he sounds like a bit of a nasty bastard from what Fran has alluded to.

Tho they seemed very cliche qnd fake when she said call me from the airport

Enjoying this so far. Bit confused by the police stuff. There seemed to be a suggestion that Fran had provided a witness statement backing up Ria’s story, has she told them she was in the house when the guy died? Ria also seemed to be weirdly uncurious about who the woman was who attacked her in the shop.

I feel like there are going to be further scenes at the beach house. Otherwise why go there only to turn around and come back the next morning? Maybe the bartender is going to have some further role.
