I hated what they did to Carrie’s old apartment but possibly easier for her not to go back and have final closure.

I've lost track, did she sell to Lysette or is she renting it to her? And if the latter then tenants are allowed to do things like put up a partition wall without asking their landlord/lady first?

Sometimes I think.the writers are living back in the 1860s like Carrie's heroine.
I eat alone all the time ( despite being married). I have even eaten alone when travelling in India..Nobody cares! It's nkt a badge of shame anymore.

However I like that LTW is kicking back against Herbert and his narcissism.
Carrie and Mark? Hard pass. Also, one can clearly see it's not a finale with all those unresolved storylines.

I think that Herbert being all moody and self absorbed was playing the groundwork for LTW to have her affair with her assistant. Now with no next season, it's just strange.

I was afraid they were going to try to set her up with Mark. Thankfully she seems to be pushing back. NO. Just no.

I agree that it looks like a load of stuff will be left hanging, and no proper resolution to anything

Yes but she knew he was leaving so that’s why she initially said no but then changed her mind.

I bloody love Duncan but kind of wish they hadn't shagged.

I'd have kept them in a 'courtly love' situation based on mutual admiration and writing, which would have been less predictable and fitted nicely with her historic novel.

I dunno - I like that they did shag, it felt like a nice ending and a good “first partner after Aidan” thing

I know it’s not a new observation but I really think they spread the focus too thin with AJLT.

Having Seema and Lisa and Anthony (and Nya before this season) was just too many people vs the fourth of Samantha.

I’m sure in SATC we didn’t see much of Stanford/Anthony except when they were interacting with one of the key four. So we have screen time of Anthony’s MIL instead of a conversation with Carrie and friends about Aidan and whether it was sustainable, under what circumstances etc.

There being too many characters in AJLT was the biggest problem, alongside mediocre writing. My fantasy scenario in this week’s episode was a scene with Charlotte talking to Carrie or Miranda about her feelings for Rock, but that would never happen in AJLT.

I won’t be grieving this show after it ends next week, it just never really worked.

I do think that Michael P-K (unlike Darren Star) didn’t get that the friendships were the real key to the success of SATC (to quote Big: you three are the real loves of her life - any guy is lucky to come in fourth)

They only needed the three OG’s plus Seema (love her) for this reboot. Aidan should never have returned. Big shouldn’t have been airbrushed out. I hated what they did with Miranda this time around, turning her basically into Cynthia Nixon. That’s not who Miranda is.
I hated the unsubtle in your face virtue signalling and box ticking. SATC was great because it didn’t play by any rulebook.

Agree with a lot of this.
Though I didn’t mind the title……and I think Aidan Coming back was good in respect that the relationship is throughly dead and buried - thus indicating was right to dump him in the past and that Big was the one.
I loved the character.
I was sad they killed him off, but it kind of made sense - older than Carrie, previous heart condition, stressful job.
But the unproven allegations of the actors private life , caused deleted scenes which were conducive to the flo of the story ….and all the gossip about much loved Samantha …. who knows what to believe….
I will miss them all though.

Yy - Seema would have been good as a “direct” replacement for Samantha (career, fabulous frocks, relationship - similar priority order!) Also they didn’t need to make out Sam and Carrie fell out over money - moved to London to expand her business, can’t make Big’s funeral cos of being a key note speaker at a major conference or something would have been fine.

What do you think will happen to the Wexley’s hamster? I think it will escape onto the mean streets of NYC where it will be savaged by Joy’s dogs. And then Joy will take it to vets and meet Che….

It’s this kind of thing that stops AJLT working. So many bits of stories that aren’t finished or don’t join up. Like the deodorant thing. Carrie’s Tums. Lisa’s assistant, Harry’s dad’s hook up, etc. The only bit I liked in this episode was Charlotte being wistful for ‘Rose.’

I took the Tums (and the fidgeting with her neckline) to be signs of stress over Aidan. Like when she came out in hives over a bridal dress in SATC (IIRC)
