Coming soon, so hopefully will be in next few weeks

OP posts:

It's odd isn't it how much people are willing to share? And share about their children.

localhere · 06/09/2025 08:47

I’m watching it with my year 8 dd who is having a tricky time with school and it’s very valuable for her to see what happens on the other side of the door when another tearful or worried child darts in to the office to see the support.

cumbriaisbest · 06/09/2025 09:03

I think viewers and young people are being manipulated.

There is so much wrong with schools.

i don’t know how his mum could sit there with a straight face as he rhymed off his breakfast Grin

Yes. I couldn’t believe she allowed him to eat such crap. Although I suppose it’s tricky to control when they are that age as they’ll just buy it anyway. I thought the same with the computer screen ‘fence’. I found it really odd that teachers are so informal with the kids. My school was really strict.

I don’t disagree but what in particular are you talking about.

cumbriaisbest · 07/09/2025 20:32

Blimey! Where to start.
Chronologically I suppose. Little tiny children who have just turned 4 doing a 10 hour day? 6 year olds having love and interest in language ground out of them by the rigours of Literacy and phonics. Being forced to hold a pencil before they are ready.
Sitting far too long. Music and Art ruined by a narrow time slot and lack of creativity.

Marbledhall · 07/09/2025 22:18

Did I imagine it or had they added sound effects to the footage of the little girl with Tourette’s ? If so , unnecessary?

Which schools are doing 10 hour days for 4 year olds?

do you mean parents needing before and after school childcare? Because that’s not the fault of the school

ShesTheAlbatross · 07/09/2025 22:46

Ffs can’t you throw a stick without hitting some creepy guy? Banned from teaching for sleeping with ex (but only just!) pupils.

To be fair the ex-pupils were adults at university.

Her tic is swearing . It was an agreed alternative to the bleep.

NewGirlInTown · 08/09/2025 20:07

This school seems
very lax/permissive.
So much make up on girls and very obvious false eyelashes. Nail varnish, jewellery, hair extensions. Really poor standards of uniform.

Astonishing that the Head of English had no solutions to offer to the English teacher who sought her advice about the AI essay.
Surely they have an AI policy? When was this filmed?
I work in FE, and I see the outcome from schools like this. So many 16 year olds, after eleven years of compulsory education, come to colleges unable to read or write.
They fail GCSE’s (obviously) and then arrive at college for a vocational course which requires compulsory Maths and English. FE colleges then have to run remedial classes to try and get them
to a functional level, especially in Maths.
Youngsters are being so badly
let down by the school system.

Our education system needs an overhaul from the ground up but no one will take it on, so like the NHS, we just keep throwing money at it and papering over the cracks.

floopyg · 09/09/2025 22:47

How does a kid get to secondary school without being able to read 😭

That poor boy has such self esteem issues it was horrible seeing him cry.

LOL, if only.

Swimandsunnies · 10/09/2025 06:46

Anyone else not so taken with this series? I loved the original 12 years ago and recently rewatched it in prep for this one, but it’s not half as good.
so many of the fab staff that made the show have left (understandable after 12 years) but I’m just finding it far less enjoyable this time around!

Children just turned 4, if they have before and after school will be doing a 10 hour day.
It's ridiculous and harmful, just like forcing them to sit behind desks in year one and hold a pencil.
And teaching History to children with absolutely no concept of time.

That’s the choice of the parents though to use before and after school club, it’s not the fault of the school. I do agree that sitting behind desks in a formal setting from year one is not beneficial to many children though. I’m in wales where we have foundation phase and play based learning until year 3- it’s meant to be a ‘stage not age’ ethos. I think it’s better than England's model but with wales always doing rubbish in the pisa scores, i am not sure it will continue

We had this debate in our house.

I am sure it’s a bleep out of swearing but our teens were convinced her tic was a whistle. Both parties adamant they were right!
