Coming soon, so hopefully will be in next few weeks

I loved seven up.
though it was sad in places

I've just read that the next instalment is due to be released next year. I thought it had come to its natural end when it was last aired and many of the participants had chosen not to continue being filmed?

Rummikub · 16/09/2025 00:13

@Itstwelveoclocksomewhere Theyll review from 7 up. Maybe focussing on the 2/3 that have agreed to continue

Oh the really cute boy (the one interested in the moon) who became an astrophysicist . Didn’t he say last series that he had a terminal illness?

Tintarella · 18/09/2025 09:38

Was anyone else a bit horrified by the science teacher saying "noone else would want to work" with two particular kids so they could "definitely work together"? What a nasty thing to say! Or is this how teachers speak to kids?

Meredusoleil · 18/09/2025 09:49

I must have missed that. Which two kids was he talking about? Are you sure he wasn't messing around/joking with them?

purpleme12 · 18/09/2025 10:08

I thought he was saying it tongue in cheek
From what I remember

Slmd · 18/09/2025 23:39

Absolutely, the screening tool used is not one I recognised and im a peadiatric OT who works as part of a neurodevelopmental diagnostic team, he clearly exhibited behaviours consistent with adhd. Asking the child is not sufficient in terms of screening either. The fact his diet was blamed fir his behaviour

Figgly · 19/09/2025 14:23

Just started watching this as we have a child in Y8. Feel sad for some of the kids struggling so much. The system has failed them. I too was surprised by all the make up, eating in class and general language. Some of the kids look so much older than 12/13!

My DD says it’s nothing like her school but I guess that’s because she’s in a grammar school and behaviour is pretty good. I imagine it’s representative of a lot of secondary schools though. Teaching looks so hard 🥴

Yes did think that was a bit off.

Figgly · 19/09/2025 20:11

I just watched that episode. That science teacher has quite an attitude IMO.

MrsDoylesLastTeabag · 21/09/2025 01:46

There are obviously lots of very serious and important points about exploitation of minors for entertainment and behavioural standards in schools being raised on this thread, but when I watch this series I can’t get beyond the staggering degree to which Mr Burton resembles David Brent. Is it just me?

Hepzibar · 21/09/2025 20:09

“The children are childish and the teachers seem stressed” an accurate assessment of every school in the land 😂

Meredusoleil · 21/09/2025 20:10

Is that Mrs Burton the Headteacher's wife? Or they just happen to have the same surname?

Yes she’s his wife

Why would you let a child drink coffee especially a child you suspect has adhd.

Funnily enough, caffeine is known to help with ADHD. It's a stimulant, and the drugs for ADHD are all stimulants. Years back, before medication had been developed, it was one of those things that people 'knew' - to give an unruly child a strong coffee. Weird, but true.

Hepzibar · 21/09/2025 21:05

The Chess game - a highlight

Supertillypops · 21/09/2025 21:10

Has Mr Burton had a hair transplant?

Someone said earlier in the thread that he had

Finteq · 22/09/2025 09:27

To be honest I'm finding it difficult to comment on the show. I just can't shake the feeling the kids are being exploited.

It's just young kids, so don't want to be seen to be laying into them or anything.

I really don't think the school dealt well the kid who was videoing in the changing rooms, regardless of the circumstances etc. Just making excuses for him.

And to put a young kid in that position where people are gonna be discussing the in and the outs of it is completely inappropriate.

chrith · 22/09/2025 10:05

I’m surprised Mr.Burton’s wife works in the school with him. Doesn’t feel appropriate or ethical.

purpleme12 · 22/09/2025 10:38

Presumably worked there before he got promoted to headteacher?

Rummikub · 22/09/2025 10:56

I can imagine it both ways. There’s always relationships between teachers. Or even a post was created.

Rummikub · 22/09/2025 10:57

I think it does come across that the staff do genuinely care for the pupils.

I totally agree. I felt increasingly uncomfortable as the show went on; it seemed that almost all the children they chose to showcase were those with particularly serious struggles.

This isn't an area I know much about but I'm not sure how they, as minors, would have been able to consent to having their lives and vulnerable moments captured in perpetuity in this way. Presumably their parents consented on their behalf. I predict some kickback in the future.

CleverPigeon · 22/09/2025 19:44

My daughter got 2 marks on her mock gcse French paper due to being so anxious she just freaked out but got a grade 6 in the actual exam. I actually respect the science teachers decision for recognising Alexa’s potential.
