As the title says really! We’ve had a run of good box sets and can’t find the next thing to watch.

Watched and loved Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, The Bear, Sucession, Slow Horses - basically all the ‘peak tv’ obvious suggestions one or both of us have watched. Sitcoms are good, The Office, Parks & Rec etc are all favourites. Hate anything involving dragons, women in bustles etc.

We’ve got Netflix, prime, Disney+ and Apple TV plus the free services like iPlayer and whatever the channel 4 one is called these days so we aren’t short of services to chose from, we just can’t find something that’s grabbing us and making us want to sit down night after night to binge it.

Ooh just thought of a really good one. If you like things like afterlife and gavin and Stacey I highly recommend Big Boys on Ch4. I binged all 3 seasons. It’s funny, serious, heartwarming , touching and really emotional in equal measure. It’s like a rollercoaster of emotions. Really loved it. I might rewatch it actually 🥰

Crazygirlmum · 03/08/2025 00:16

Ok so it’s not a film but even better as it lasts longer 🤣

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 03/08/2025 07:54

Yellowstone and then all the spin offs afterwards, 1883 1923 etc. Episode 1 is a bit hard going but after that it's amazing.

JamPotJenny · 03/08/2025 08:50

Black Snow.

Manifest on Netflix is gripping us at the moment, just finished Ginny and Georgia which was also good. Moving onto the new series of Fubar and Wednesday next - enjoyed season one of both these so might be worth a watch.

Dept Q was very good.

Untamed on Netflix.

And I second Department Q

Loved Dept Q now watching Untamed

solando · 04/08/2025 06:59

I have now found Criminal Minds, watched a couple of episodes and enjoyed, looks like around 350 episodes, these long series are good to have on the go when there is a shortage of things to watch and it's quite easy to dip in and out of.

After the Party channel 4. Really really good NZ drama. Late middle aged woman suspects her Dh of inappropriate behaviour with teen boys and speaks out. Best thing we’ve seen recently

TheaBrandt1 · 04/08/2025 07:10

We were really disappointed with the assassin - flat and weird unlikeable unrealistic characters. We turned off as have several others.

TheaBrandt1 · 04/08/2025 07:11

Pernille is brilliant if you ok with sub titles - Norwegian middle aged mum dealing with teens and life in general. Really really good about a million times better than trash like the assassin.

I was looking forward to this because the cast looked good, watched half an episode then didn't bother anymore.

Silicon Valley
White Lotus
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Broad City

WonderingWanda · 04/08/2025 07:15

Ozark is a strong contender for breaking bad in my opinion.
Can't believe more people haven't mentioned Dexter either.

House of Cards was brilliant but lost its way toward the end and of course you need to look past the fact that it has been officially confirmed Kevin Spacey is creep....although you could just tell anyway.
Narcos.
This city is Ours is the best thing I've watched this year.

Black Doves and The Diplomat on netflix were also very good.

That was absolutely brilliant,

Finding Alice on Netflix with Keeley H. Loch Ness. The Undoing with Hugh Grant. All six parters, all investigative/crime.

Ilovemyshed · 05/08/2025 07:45

1923 and 1883

mylovedoesitgood · 05/08/2025 07:47

It’s worth signing up with Now because they have a lot of really high quality TV shows such as The White Lotus, Mare of Easttown, Hacks, and True Detective. New customers get good deals.

WomensRightsRenegade · 05/08/2025 09:31

Has anyone mentioned The Americans yet?

Crazygirlmum · 05/08/2025 11:02

Ive just started Pernille on Netflix as it had amazing reviews. I’m totally hooked and only on episode 4. There are 5 seasons 👏🏻👏🏻
it’s Norwegian so as long as you don’t mind subtitles or dubbing. I think there are some great Norwegian series out there!!

Onthewaytothemountains · 05/08/2025 11:15

Not many people are suggesting British police/crime series e.g. Grace, Blue Lights, Malpractice, Unforgotten.

started Landscapers, need to carry on, this is on Now

Dandeliontea123 · 06/08/2025 18:41

If you like The West Wing you may like The Diplomat and The Residence on Netflix

Alondra · 08/08/2025 06:15

A bit surprised how many people loved Untamed, I found it boring and predictable. I loved The Dry, an Australian film with Eric Bana, but I'm unsure if you can see in the UK.

Dept Q is good. My fav are Nordic noir series - The Chestnut Man on Netflix, The Bridge (original), The Fall, Pagan Peak...

merrymelody · 08/08/2025 06:32

I don’t know if it’s available in the UK yet but I highly recommend The Pitt.
