As the title says really! We’ve had a run of good box sets and can’t find the next thing to watch.

Watched and loved Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, The Bear, Sucession, Slow Horses - basically all the ‘peak tv’ obvious suggestions one or both of us have watched. Sitcoms are good, The Office, Parks & Rec etc are all favourites. Hate anything involving dragons, women in bustles etc.

We’ve got Netflix, prime, Disney+ and Apple TV plus the free services like iPlayer and whatever the channel 4 one is called these days so we aren’t short of services to chose from, we just can’t find something that’s grabbing us and making us want to sit down night after night to binge it.

Only Murders In The Building?

AlwaysFreezing · 31/07/2025 23:52

Nobody mentioned Kaos yet? I think its one of the best things I've seen this year.

Classics.

Madmen?
Orange is the new black
Jane the virgin
Mind hunter

StrawberryFizz27 · 31/07/2025 23:53

Mr Inbetween on Disney

ActualAl · 31/07/2025 23:53

West wing on ch4. (The only series I've watched over and over again and still laugh and cry like it's the first time!)
Six feet under (not sure where it's showing though)
This is us
New Amsterdam

All long running shows that have quite a few seasons and have now finished, and have reasonably good endings!

RainbowSlimeLab · 31/07/2025 23:57

North Shore

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 01/08/2025 00:02

We're enjoying Resident Alien on Netflix at the moment

icebearforpresident · 01/08/2025 00:22

Thank you all so much for the ideas. We watched the first 3 episodes of Shrinking and it’s exactly what we’d been looking for, loved it. I’ve got a note of loads of other suggestions on my phone for when we have finished that.

Someone suggested The West Wing - it’s my all time favourite show! In fact as I was watching Shrinking I was drinking tea from my The West Wing Weekly (a rewatch podcast with Joshua Malina as one of the hosts) mug. It’s my favourite mug, no one else is allowed to use it and if it ever breaks I will be distraught.

Thoughts on some of the suggestions you’ve all made:

Smoke - I’ve listened to the podcast which the series is based on and enjoyed it but it went in a weird direction that I won’t mention in case it’s a spoiler for the show. It put me off watching the show.

Paradise - does it go a bit Lost? I thought it was a typical thriller tv show but then heard it compared to Lost a lot, and I gave up on Lost before it finished

Kaos - Awesome show that was cancelled far too quickly!

Madmen - I watched it when it was on, not in a rush to go back to it, probably not what the husband would enjoy

The Morning Show - guilty pleasure

Snowfall - Top 10 tv show

Squid Game - enjoyed season 1 but by the time it came back I’d lost any interest I had in it

Oh yes Paradise is really good, not like Lost - much shorter and more thriller action, I would say worth a watch

Bad Sisters

I second this one.

Also Boardwalk Empire if you can access it.

For sheet indulgence Jilly Coopers Rivals on Disney+.

LBFseBrom · 01/08/2025 04:45

Mr Loverman. It's on BBC iplayer.

underthebridge999 · 01/08/2025 04:56

Someone may have mentioned but Yellowstone is good.

The Narrow Road To The Deep North on iplayer. Harrowing but fascinating. The Jury series 1 and 2 on Netflix.

Just finished The Narrow Road. Absolutely riveting

WideOpenBeaches · 01/08/2025 06:36

I’m two episodes into The Assassin on Prime. It’s quite good. Got Keeley Hawkes in it.

BeGoneHayfever · 01/08/2025 07:01

Also loved Tehran on Apple TV

Blue Lights (iPlayer I think) - one of the best things I’ve watched in years. In fact I would watch it again it was so good

zaxxon · 01/08/2025 07:59

Dark (Netflix ) is great if you like think-y stuff.

Deutschland 83 (all4) was gripping

Fleabag I'm guessing you've already seen?

Money Heist (netflix, Spanish) was ludicrous but a lot of fun, and admirably avoided good guy/bad guy cliches

The original Prime Suspect (ITVX) is just fantastic

Dept Q, sorry, great performances but the sloppy writing and shocking plot holes spoilt it for me

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 01/08/2025 08:16

I’ve just finished Under the Bridge on itvX which was brilliant, I also liked Mixtape on iplayer.

ElixirOfLife · 01/08/2025 09:48

I introduced DD15 to The Hustle which she loves.
Thanks for the reminder re Six Feet Under, loved it first time around.

Just finished The Narrow Road. Absolutely riveting

It really was x

Lemondrizzling · 01/08/2025 10:04

Sneaky Pete is utterly brilliant on
Netflix

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 01/08/2025 10:05

@icebearforpresident No Paradise isn’t like Lost, everything gets explained!

SnowFrogJelly · 01/08/2025 10:07

Also recommend Dept Q and the Assassin on Prime is good too

Soukmyfalafel · 01/08/2025 19:50

Some things you may not have thought of that havent been mentioned yet are The Gold (BBC) and The Pembrokeshire Murders Netflix (both crime dramas based on a true story). Also really liked Dark on Netflix if you like Sci-Fi and haven't watched yet. Silo took a few eps for me to get into. Same with Smoke, but has gotten better after a few episodes.

Soukmyfalafel · 01/08/2025 19:52

Baby Reindeer too on Netflix. Very different, although it is pretty dark.
