As the title says really! We’ve had a run of good box sets and can’t find the next thing to watch.

Watched and loved Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, The Bear, Sucession, Slow Horses - basically all the ‘peak tv’ obvious suggestions one or both of us have watched. Sitcoms are good, The Office, Parks & Rec etc are all favourites. Hate anything involving dragons, women in bustles etc.

We’ve got Netflix, prime, Disney+ and Apple TV plus the free services like iPlayer and whatever the channel 4 one is called these days so we aren’t short of services to chose from, we just can’t find something that’s grabbing us and making us want to sit down night after night to binge it.

I recently watched The Man in the High Castle on Prime and enjoyed it

Cattery · 31/07/2025 19:31

The Narrow Road To The Deep North on iplayer. Harrowing but fascinating. The Jury series 1 and 2 on Netflix.

Namechange032025 · 31/07/2025 19:31

We're currently enjoying The Assasin on Prime

WanderingGiraffe · 31/07/2025 19:32

Another vote for Tehran on apple. Loved it.

Black bird and Pachinko on apple too.

WidowSENParent · 31/07/2025 19:32

Dept Q, Karen Pirie & Untamed would get my vote at the moment

chunkybear · 31/07/2025 19:34

Modern Family?
also a big fan of Derry Girls
my friend always suggests Penny Dreadful

1883, 1923 and Yellowstone on Netflix.

Yes these and Landmen, also excellent

Screamingabdabz · 31/07/2025 19:36

Flowers is now on Netflix. Just one of most brilliant, poignant, beautiful (and funny) programmes ever. It stays with you long afterwards.

MarySueSaidBoo · 31/07/2025 19:39

Loved Untamed. Brilliant series.
Squid Game - weird but very watchable.
Yellowstone, 1883 and 1923 - all amazing.
Landman. Surprisingly good.
Long Way Home - Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, beautiful scenery as they rode around Europe/Norway.

American Primeval is really good - it's a pretty brutal story set in the mid-1800s in Utah. Only one series though.

I very much enjoyed For All Mankind, or at least the first few series. It's an alternate history where the USSR got to the moon first. The most recent series wasn't at good IMO.

If you or your DP are original series Star Trek fans then I urge you to watch Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It does a brilliant job of capturing the feel of the original series without the "Kirk snogs the hot young alien woman" schtick.

Oh yes, this was great.

Also Snowpiercer.

Oh and The Assassin with Keeley Hawes on Prime was good fun.

Endofyear · 31/07/2025 19:42

If you like comedy - Catastrophe on Netflix? DH and I have just started watching Bookish which is quite good so far

Raquelos · 31/07/2025 19:43

Completely agree - Keeley Hawes never disappoints

Watched the first two, just on your third choice. All great picks!!

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 31/07/2025 19:45

Adding Friends & Neighbours on Apple.
A more of a crime caper than serious drama, but we really enjoyed it.

I was just looking at For All Mankind. I’ve watched it and really enjoyed it but my husband never bothered with it. You’re right, the last series wasn’t as good!

We’ve landed on Shrinking. I just noticed Jessica Williams is in it and I love her so she sealed the deal.

The Sopranos. When my DH suggested it at first I was like how boring 🥱 but I was hooked and watched the series twice and about to start it again. I used to be in to Rom-Coms but now I love Gangster and Mafia stuff.

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 31/07/2025 19:51

So your husband didn't like either The Good Place or For All Mankind?

Have you considered getting a different husband? It might make it easier to choose something to watch.

LittlleMy · 31/07/2025 19:51

Fallout (a future, post-apocalyptic Los Angeles brought about by nuclear decimation, citizens must live in underground bunkers to protect themselves from radiation). Huge fun with a female protagonist.

Man in the High Castle (takes a look at what the world might look like had the outcome of World War II turned out differently..). Great production and acting - and as an aside has the very dishy Rufus Sewell ☺️

Both on Prime.

Chocja · 31/07/2025 19:52

The Great on four on demand
Ashes to Ashes and Life on Mars
Line of Duty
Derry Girls
Working Moms on Netflix

🤣

He didn’t like The Good Place but to be fair to him he never tried For All Mankind - I’m a bit of a space nerd so I cracked on and watched it without him.

I’m going to admit now that I did not like The Sopranos. There, I said it.

Ted Lasso, Ozark, Bad Sisters, Shrinking. Just watched Bookish on Alibi, which was great.

Edited

Also a huge Sopranos fan here, and Gomorrah. If you haven’t seen The Good Mothers on Disney - it’s fantastic.

Your Friends and Neighbours on Apple+ is really good.
