Robson Green and Jason Watkins go toe-to-toe in The Game trailer
A retired detective believes he's found a twisted stalker – but is he just deluding himself?

It was called catch you later and changed to the game

Set to debut on 5, the psychological drama will air its first episode on Monday 12 May at 9pm, with the remaining episodes set to follow that same week (via Radio Times (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/jason-watkins-robson-green-game-air-date-newsupdate/)).

Jason Watkins and Robson Green star in the suspenseful trailer for upcoming 5 drama The Game (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/jason-watkins-robson-green-game-air-date-newsupdate/), which finds a former
detective locked in psychological warfare with a man he believes to be a notorious stalker.

Huw Miller (Watkins) retired from the police force with one major career regret: failing to catch the so-called Ripton Stalker, who would torment his victims before ultimately murdering them.

When an enigmatic stranger named Patrick Harbottle (Green) moves in next door, Huw starts to think that the criminal who eluded him for so many years might now be operating right under his nose.

The synopsis reads: "As Huw attempts to settle into retirement, the case is never far from his mind – and when new neighbour Patrick Harbottle (Green) moves in and utters the chilling phrase 'catch you later' – the sign-off the stalker used to taunt Huw during the investigation –

Huw is determined he’s finally got his man.
"What follows is a high stakes game of psychological chess between the two neighbours as Huw’s world begins to crumble around him.

"Unable to bear the guilt of the stalker taking another victim under his nose, Huw risks everything to unearth the truth.

But has he set his sights on the right man, or is his obsession pushing him ever closer to the brink?"

Looking forward to this, hopefully it will be better than the usual channel 5 offerings. I’m not that struck on Jason Watkins as a comedy actor (apart from McDonald and Dodd) but I think he’s great at drama.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/05/2025 08:09

I still haven’t seen a trailer for it which is unusual

Well I watched it but was very underwhelmed.

the80sweregreat · 12/05/2025 22:07

It was ok, but the odd houses gave it a slightly menacing feel. Acting was good, but it was unbelievable that he’d be able to buy that house so fast! Especially these days.

Rainbow1235 · 12/05/2025 22:08

Not watched yet but looking forward to it . Thsnku

Gloriia · 12/05/2025 22:11

Oo I liked it. Tense and Robson Green makes a very good creepy guy.
Jason Watkins seems to be playing the same underdog he played in that Coma dtama about the thugs but still, I'm in. Surprised Jill isn't in it Grin

Piggywaspushed · 12/05/2025 22:13

Here with my usual dose of investigating where on earth they actually filmed. This is a new one. Not Budapest. Basque Country. I was suspicious as soon as I saw an unlikely and highly visible red phone box.

the80sweregreat · 12/05/2025 22:15

No sign of Jill, but the one playing his wife was very good ( was she in Casualty ?)
It is definitely better than ‘the Feud ‘ , so far anyway

the80sweregreat · 12/05/2025 22:16

The stalker reminds me of the Hugh grant baddie in Paddington 2 ! Only without the laughs

Anabellie · 12/05/2025 22:16

I enjoyed it but was distracted by the tiles in Huw’s kitchen and started Googling iridescent tiles midway through. Only four episodes too, so will definitely stick with it 😊

Gloriia · 12/05/2025 22:18

And what was he doing de icing with a chisel I'd have given my dh an earbashing for that shocker.

the80sweregreat · 12/05/2025 22:18

Ohh! I loved the kitchen tiles too!! Really nice.
The stalkers house was very dark wasn’t it !

the80sweregreat · 12/05/2025 22:20

Yeah, the de icing the freezer was odd.
They are clearly well off enough to have a ‘ frost free’ one ! !

the80sweregreat · 12/05/2025 22:22

I also think that he should try a different police person to confide in! His ex colleague is clearly not a mate. Lol

daffodilandtulip · 12/05/2025 22:27

Oh I forgot about this and I'm out the next two nights, so will binge at the end of the week!

3smallpups · 12/05/2025 22:47

I enjoyed the trigger warning at the end
don’t think many people are retired serial killer hunters with a killer moving in next door and stalking them
well hopefully not ..

Same. The road signs didn’t look British but I clocked the bright red phone box plonked incongruously on a very middle class street. 😂
The first bit with Huw chasing the stalker around a deserted warehouse on his own was just ludicrous, and then I cringed when he left work and no-one gave a shit. And I just knew Robson Green was going to say “catch you later” to Hugh when they met.
The actress playing Alice was very familiar and sure enough she was in that drama about the boys swapped at birth than was on a few weeks ago. And she’s been in The Bay.
