Robson Green and Jason Watkins go toe-to-toe in The Game trailer
A retired detective believes he's found a twisted stalker – but is he just deluding himself?

It was called catch you later and changed to the game

Set to debut on 5, the psychological drama will air its first episode on Monday 12 May at 9pm, with the remaining episodes set to follow that same week (via Radio Times (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/jason-watkins-robson-green-game-air-date-newsupdate/)).

Jason Watkins and Robson Green star in the suspenseful trailer for upcoming 5 drama The Game (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/jason-watkins-robson-green-game-air-date-newsupdate/), which finds a former
detective locked in psychological warfare with a man he believes to be a notorious stalker.

Huw Miller (Watkins) retired from the police force with one major career regret: failing to catch the so-called Ripton Stalker, who would torment his victims before ultimately murdering them.

When an enigmatic stranger named Patrick Harbottle (Green) moves in next door, Huw starts to think that the criminal who eluded him for so many years might now be operating right under his nose.

The synopsis reads: "As Huw attempts to settle into retirement, the case is never far from his mind – and when new neighbour Patrick Harbottle (Green) moves in and utters the chilling phrase 'catch you later' – the sign-off the stalker used to taunt Huw during the investigation –

Huw is determined he’s finally got his man.
"What follows is a high stakes game of psychological chess between the two neighbours as Huw’s world begins to crumble around him.

"Unable to bear the guilt of the stalker taking another victim under his nose, Huw risks everything to unearth the truth.

But has he set his sights on the right man, or is his obsession pushing him ever closer to the brink?"

I do think it was quite good. We were never 100% sure Patrick was the baddie or if Huw was just very paranoid and losing it until the last episode.

I'd have liked the twist at the end to be that Huw was setting a trap for Patrick, the police were lying in wait and Huw was wearing a stab vest.

That would be far too sensible.

My chances of writing for Ch5 have slipped from slim at best, to beyond zero then 😁

Maybe Patrick would have been caught more quickly if Huw hadn't been so hysterical , shouting at the top of his voice 'He said Catch you later ' and 'He said Yes It's me' over and over again . it made him sound crazy !!😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/05/2025 20:45

Tho tech Patrick was stupid saying that to him. He hasn’t been caught for 3 years then moved opposite - possibly killing Frank

I thought it was him right from the start

I thought it was really good

It did a VERY good job of making me feel very uncomfortable

I felt really bad for Hugh throughout

But I did cringe a lot at some of the situations he put himself in

I don't mind ambiguous endings sometimes and obviously this was ambiguous but I can't help thinking it was steering is towards him dying. But I'd be pissed off if he died

I don't think Patrick escaped though

Just finished this. I enjoyed it. I do wish the police had helped out Sunetra Sarker with the first aid at the end though, rather than just leaving her to it and buggering off. I hope he survived. If he didn't at least he fulfilled his goal to stop Patrick.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/05/2025 21:41

Yes he may have died but if he did he died happy

I thought this started well, I thought it was creepy and well done When Patrick was sneaking around the houses turning music on and moving things(apart from when in Ruth's then suddenly outside the door! as @pigear mentioned)
It did start to go downhill and I don't really think RG was convincing as a killer.
Agree with @LemograssLollipop that the actress playing the Daughter was good-Probably best in it.

sorry but didn't like SS thought she was too shouty and didn't come across caring towards Huw ever.(even when he was bleeding out in her arms, sat him up and applied piss poor pressure 😀)

Just finished it. Annoying ending. He must have died as she moved him and was not putting pressure on.
big houses and no utility room.
