I have a deep love of the Eurovision song contest and shamelssly enjoy it every year. I like the cheesiness, the comedy rntries, the good, solid eurosongs, with the very occasional sprinkling of listenable tunes. I love the fun and spectacle of it all, and the huge amount of effort put into its staging.
I really liked the Latvian pirates, the metal from Finland (they came across unintentionally Spinal Tap in interviews as well!) I liked the old guys from Croatia and France's amazing first for singing in English! Some of the semi-final dropouts were good too - I was very sad to see Malta and Andorra go in the semis.
However, like other posters, I'm finding that the political voting is really spoiling it, and as Terry said last night, it's not a music contest anymore. TW was genuinely gutted last night, and I can see why he is reconsidering being involved in Eurovision. It really was the worst example of political voting so far, and it can only get worse.
3andnomore - oh, I have to disagree with you there! Germany produced one of the finest Eurovision entries a couple of years ago (when Lordi won the contest) with 'Never Ever' from the superb Texas Lightning!
