Spero, If the family of a disabled child truly felt to be alive was to suffer then I agree with you. You, as far as I can tell, are not saying let's kill all children with SN but you are saying lets think about euthansia. I can't think a family would ever make that decision, however, but what sort of society would we belong to if a person lived without any pleasure and all pain and we did nothing to save them from their plight?
I couldn't see it happening but I see nothing wrong with your hypothesis.

I said it was worth discussing, not that I thought any family would ever agree to this, as far as I understand it parents can understand their child no matter how severe the SN symptoms are and can get so much joy from the flicker of an eye and see their child's joy and enrichment.
