Can't see a thread about it. We loved it. Sat down together to watch it just like we did some of the earlier ones when the kids were little (in their 30s now!). What a terrific job the voice actor playing Wallace did! Just like Peter Sallis.

I might watch it again

LadyKenya · 26/12/2024 08:35

It was smashing! I was so pleased that it still felt familiar. It is good family entertainment, that you could sit, and watch with your Granny, without worrying if there will be any embarrassing scenes😄

doneandone · 26/12/2024 08:37

We loved it!

Starryknightcloud · 26/12/2024 08:38

So good!

Like the year we tried to watch Bad Santa with my granny Blush She took herself off to bed after the first five minutes

lolly792 · 26/12/2024 08:40

Brilliant: so nice to have something you can genuinely watch as a family of all ages. So many clever, detailed references, and of course the theme of the dangers of AI taking over. Loved it.

ChronicallySleepy · 26/12/2024 08:41

I thought it was brilliant but I fell asleep towards the end so will have to watch the last 15 minutes or so on catch up

Mindymomo · 26/12/2024 08:44

We absolutely loved it and will watch it again as it seems we missed a lot.

"Click all the items made of cheese"

Of course the moon was there 🤣

Yeah I loved that- the fact that there’s always one picture on those things that you’re not sure about - “is that a bridge?” . So well observed.

Needmorelego · 26/12/2024 08:52

The canal boat chase was hilarious.
I actually said "this isn't going to be much of a chase because they don't exactly go fast" and then there was the view from above and the boats are barely moving 😂
And then the one that exploded in dramatic style !
It was brilliant.

I don't blame her! That is what is so good about W&G, that the whole family could sit together, and enjoy. I loved the little touches like the old type of telephone, and the mantlepiece. Took me right back!

AdditionalCharacter · 26/12/2024 08:55

What an amazing comeback. My DC have long been W&G fans, watching episodes from being little, to the young adults they are now. It's been a while since they all sat watching something and not looking at their phones. Really made it a special moment.

We were howling when they said Ant and Dec, then it was actually Anton Deck. Very clever.

All the little references, so many to get. Will be watching it a few more times this week.

HashTagLil · 26/12/2024 09:01

The border sign “Stay Out”, then on the back of it “No, you stay out”.
The sinister neck crick by Feathers Mcgraw.
All the folder tabs on the computer. All labelled new folder, except one that has cheese pics.
The breakfast scene with - I think- Marmacheese instead of marmite.

It was the best program of the Christmas season. We loved it!

Phineyj · 26/12/2024 09:02

I liked it a lot but particularly the bit near the end when Wallace was in his own cellar and the floor parted to let the submarine surface and he said, "Ooh, I didn't know it did that..."

ThePure · 26/12/2024 09:06

My teens also quickly clocked that Onyadoorstep is voiced by Philomena Cunk who they also find hilarious.

Saucery · 26/12/2024 09:08

And the van driver was Lenny Henry!

ErrolTheDragon · 26/12/2024 08:24

Yorkshire Border - No Parkin also made me laugh.

I love those little blink and you'll miss them details (Grommit's books 'A room of one's own by Virginia Woof, and later Paradise Lost...I'm sure I missed quite a few).

Loved the Bond villain with a seal pup 😂

Omg I was dying at the ‘Room of one’s own’ part…loved it! 😂😂😂

AmazingGraze · 26/12/2024 09:13

Up North News was another great detail!

We loved it too, we'd been looking forward to it for ages.

PermanentTemporary · 26/12/2024 09:20

Loved it. Howled at the square cut lion's mane, having welled up slightly at poor Gromit's ruined regimented garden.

Up North News was another great detail!

It got the ineptitude of NorthWest Tonight spot on.

zaxxon · 26/12/2024 09:20

Yes loved it! It's amazing how they do the penguin. He doesn't have eyebrows (Gromit's main mode of expression) or indeed any movable facial features, so they have to do all his "lines" with tilts of the head. Or flippers. (I really laughed when they put him in handcuffs.)

There was a bit too much Peter Kay doing his shtick, I thought, and not enough funny lines - it could have been trimmed down. But Reece Shearsmith was great (channelling K9?) and the whole thing really fun.

ThePollutedShadesOfPemberley · 26/12/2024 09:25

I loved the bit where they slapped the cuffs on Feathers but his flippers are conical.

It was brilliant throughout.

Hedjwitch · 26/12/2024 09:26

Love Feathers McGraw, or " the naughty penguin" as he's still called by my.now adult children. More of him, and less of the gnomes would have been better .
