Blondeshavemorefun · 15/12/2024 18:25

I know there is a thread for this but I started to read and all talking about the book and plot so I stopped reading - I think that one may be for bingers as all will be shown on iPlayer (which drives me nuts) 😡

So this as usual will be tv paced

4 episodes. Mon and Tue this week and then 23 and 24th next week so all wrapped up by Christmas 💖

New book THE INK BLACK HEART

Robin and Corrmoran are back

This time the pair delve into the case of the cartoon creator Eddie Ledwell.

She tells Robin she is being persecuted by an anon online figure spreading hate and is found dead in a cemetery ,,,,,,,,,,

So who do we think Anomie is

I think too obvious to be Wally/drak

Prob not the fiance Philip

Nils landlord

Pez ex

Katya

Rea

Yasmin

Possibly a woman as seems catty to mention her suicide etx

So I'm going for katya

Probably be wrong 😂

Oh no! We watched it on iplayer and pressed play on the front page “new series”. But it must have played series 1 episode 1!

It's great - I rewatched all the old series last week in preparation. 😁

You will have something new to watch every night until beyond Christmas. I hope you enjoy it.

Cynic17 · 17/12/2024 11:52

This is my least favourite of the Strike books..... pages and pages of online chat..... so it is going to be difficult to condense for TV. They are doing their best, but I'm not sure how well it will hold the attention.
I am a huge fan of JKR, but sometimes I do think that she needs a more assertive editor!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 11:57

I did wonder if they film these as she was well known as hp but not know under Robert Galbraith

On early appearances, I think the narrative may benefit from having been pared down to fit into four hours of television.

Agreed. The book is loooooong and though excellent, the pages of chat room interaction could do with being edited. So far I really like it.

Recap makes it clearer about the bald bloke

And the two at the beginning that strike is following are they meant to be gay/he said get a pic of them kissing

Or they are friends

It was a bloke and a girl, and he was being patronising to her about the Pre-Raphaelite painting but Strike and Midge agreed that wasn't why he was going around with her.

drspouse · 17/12/2024 12:59

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 09:04

Whoever wrote that is confused. Mitch Patterson is head of a rival agency (and he's really bad at it, though I can't remember which book that's in). Midge is the woman who Strike handed over to and she is an ex cop with an ex girlfriend who is really into Ink Black Heart.

The books are brilliant plus the first one sold well before people knew it was JKR (iirc)

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 16:15

@drspouse I read that and didn't even click. Thanks

QueenOfThorns · 17/12/2024 19:03

I would say Katya at this point, except that Josh also got stabbed and that wouldn’t benefit her at all. So maybe Edie’s uncle, he benefits from her death and was very irritating in the one scene he’s been in!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 20:25

I'm saying Katya as well

She didn't kill Josh thi. Just maimed him and now he's the sole owner of the game etx

She's their agent. It was till edie left ana no one will take Josh on now so it's a win win

Or that's why I'm saying her

Probably totally wrong 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 22:09

She still seems suspicious to me. Huge list of suspects. Not her on it 😂

I know they are crossing people off but if there are Two then maybe other one is online when the other is being followed

Iyswim

I don't think it's pez

Fiance def dodgy esp after hiding and hitting Barclay on the bike

Hope he's ok

Enjoyed e2 much more

Ah, glad there's a thread that's not all about the books!

Enjoying this, but it is confusing, so many characters with names I can't remember!

deeahgwitch · 18/12/2024 09:25

I agree @Clawdy there are so many characters with names I can't remember.
And adult animated cartoons aren't something I find interesting 😀
I see Susan Tully aka Michelle Fowler of Eastenders fame is the director.

GreenEggs483 · 18/12/2024 09:44

I'm going for Inigo/daughter combo killing Edie

BestIsWest · 18/12/2024 11:43

I’m enjoying this much more than the book. Even better, I can’t remember whodunnit.

I've never read the books

You know me @Clawdy

Always tv pace so can absorb and chat about theories

I’ve just finished watching ep 2. If Josh is telling the truth, the uncle is out, he didn’t look particularly light on his feet! Nils is an odd one, isn’t he? And what’s the fiance up to? I’m happy to say I have no clue whodunnit as of now. Pez is growing on me a little, I hope it wasn’t him!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2024 23:35

Light on feet could mean a girl

Just as voice is male could be like on scream and voice box changer

InMySpareTime · 19/12/2024 06:57

Also not necessarily someone who directly knew pertinent information as the game had scope to extract secrets in the gate keeping bit of the chat (eg what's your favourite dog?)

Anomie could have any number of secrets without leaving the server room, and might be several people.

I haven't read the book, but have form for spotting foreshadowing, and the game question pinged my spidey senses.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/12/2024 10:34

Trig the time she tried to Jill herself they knew about that and that was her close 6 friends/suspects

RaraRachael · 19/12/2024 10:54

I tried to read a couple of the books but just couldn't get on with them although FiL raved about them. I've watched, and enjoyed, all the adaptations so far but I'm finding there are an awful lot of characters in this one. At the end I was going through the cast list trying to work out who everyone was and there were quite a few I didn't know.

I'll stick with it though.

BakeOffRewatch · 22/12/2024 17:33

I’ve just watched episode 1 and 2, Inigo seems way over invested and would have had access to lots of information through his wife Katya.

The bald bloke with the Norse letter on his head was waiting for Strike because he recognised Strike from the park earlier when Strike fell over in the pub, so the big bald guy realised Strike had been following him.

Is Philip Ormond the doctor from Poldark? He seems very fishy. Too fishy to be it.

I can’t remember what was happening with the two people strike was following in the art gallery.

I am enjoying it, a lot more than season 1 episode 1. DH and I were just talking about the Justin Baldoni scandal with Blake Lively, he’d paid a PR firm to take down her reputation online including social media commentary and influencers, following her legitimate requests for safeguarding on set from sexual harassment and abuse by him and the producer, so it was interesting to then start this up.
