I know there is a thread for this but I started to read and all talking about the book and plot so I stopped reading - I think that one may be for bingers as all will be shown on iPlayer (which drives me nuts) 😡

So this as usual will be tv paced

4 episodes. Mon and Tue this week and then 23 and 24th next week so all wrapped up by Christmas 💖

New book THE INK BLACK HEART

Robin and Corrmoran are back

This time the pair delve into the case of the cartoon creator Eddie Ledwell.

She tells Robin she is being persecuted by an anon online figure spreading hate and is found dead in a cemetery ,,,,,,,,,,

Exciting!

BakeOffRewatch · 15/12/2024 18:40

I’ve never read the books or tv series. Do I need to try to watch all the previous series before starting this one with you?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/12/2024 18:44

I would try as they do follow on to each other @BakeOffRewatch

5 previous series (2, 2, 3, 4, 4 episodes). I don’t think I’ll manage 15hrs of tv by tomorrow 🤣.

WingBingo · 15/12/2024 21:35

I’m very excited about this. It was a great book.

daffodilandtulip · 15/12/2024 21:41

Oh I hadn't seen this! Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun

I've just binged Black Doves and was searching for the next thing!

IdaPrentice · 15/12/2024 21:46

When I read it, I did wonder how it would work on TV, as there is so much in online messages. Looking forward to it though!

(btw, the Running Grave is absolutely my favourite in the series so far)

MilitantFawcett · 15/12/2024 21:49

@IdaPrentice I’m intrigued as to how it will translate to screen too but am v excited, IBH is my favourite to date. Running Grave was just too tense!

I haven't read any of the books so only know what I watch

Are the the same as books

Do the plots change as so often often from book to tv

Which is running grave

Name doesn't ring a bell so assume not one of the previous shown

Running grave is the latest book (DH read it recently).

I have just rewatched the previous series and even though I have seen them before (more than once) I was struck by how well done they are overall and how much they follow the plots, even though a large book is condensed into 2-4 episodes.

There is a lot more detail in the book and a lot more about how they are thinking. With the last one (Troubled Blood) you got far more information about the mad policeman's astrology notes to pore over, and also the old police notes. there is also much more fleshing out of each character. Some people take more of a back seat and only get a mention in passing.

I don't think any of this detracts from the tv adaptations though, which I think are a thing of beauty in their own right.

Augustusjoop · 16/12/2024 12:47

Troubled blood is my favourite, such a great story. The tv series did a great job but the book is so much better. I also enjoyed the first book/series.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/12/2024 17:27

Almost here. I've finally seen a advert for it. Should be good
