I think it's guaranteed now we've seen her with the stick. I did wonder if she might be a few weeks ago but then I remembered she was celibate. But of course she slept with him 🙄

Yay, new thread! I’ve just watched the ITVX special. The producer knew the end game was going to be Lauren killing him. Also, the David actor had no quiff so is that a fake hairpiece for filming then?

I agree with some PPs, I think the actors playing Lauren and Max are both doing a great job.

I ended up fast forwarding it.

It was a live special from the cobbles with some of the cast and Sharon Marshall straight after Lauren was revealed as the killer but I’ve just searched ITVX and it says programme doesn’t exist. Maybe it was just for that live, I’m not sure

Max is such a good young actor. But what a let down that storyline was. We were all hoping for a real twist, not a sad ending for two of the few likeable characters.

The charge against Max is not going anywhere, when even the detective who charged him knows he couldn't have done it. So Lauren confesses and ends up in prison for murder and the point of this storyline was - what? Or it was all a dream and Joel walks out of the shower... that is about how realistic it is.

I don't think Max is ever very good, and I am fed up with Lauren wailing and snarling. I am interested in the Shona/David storyline though. I am half-hoping it breaks them up because I don't think they work together. Anyway it gives David something to do.

And amongst all this, Gail is invisible and cheerily planning a wedding. Yeh, that makes sense.

Now that's the real mystery, when did Deedee do the deed?

I think we were supposed to think it was when Joel referred to the night she was upset and he 'supported her' - the night she was upset about Paul, and they had been to the hospital to see Frankie.

I hope Dee Dee isn’t pregnant because if she is, she will be so conflicted about the baby and whether to have an abortion or not due to her faith. Is this why she changed her mind about Lauren and Frankie staying there after the foster care placement?

I distracted myself trying to work out who has murdered who in the Platt family.

Don’t care about Lauren. Corrie have done to death the gobby, chavvy, tell-it-like -it-is female character. It’s the same character over the last twenty years, just a different face - Karen, Becky, Gemma, Kylie, the one on Doctor Who who just left, I’m forgetting others but it’s the same character. Rough as fuck, misunderstood but the love of a ‘good’ man can ‘soften’ her. This character gets the most screen time and we are literally held hostage until the actress thinks she’s better than the Street and moves on.

Sorry, I just had to let that out. It’s been pissing me off for years.

I do however like the fact that David still hates Shona’s son. In typical soapland, he should have forgiven the fact his current wife’s son killed his former wife. They would be sharing a bathroom and bonding over Weatherfield County within six weeks of the murder, but nope, David isn’t playing that game. It’s a rarity for a soap character to have a memory so good on David for being true to himself.

Yes, exactly this. Although I do think Karen McDonald was a cut above and never really became soft and likeable.

Karen was the precursor - all the others are pale imitations in hoop earrings.

Can't believe it was Lauren! Such a long drawn out story and very unsatisfying end to creepy Joel. He should have been brought to trial, not murdered by the sad, desperate girl he abused and tried to murder.

I think we can agree that Deedee is 100% pregnant. Has anyone in soap land ever had a BFN?

I'm so fed up with baddies getting killed instead of seeing actual justice served.
