Let the Joel storyline continue to bore us 😞

I think we can agree that Deedee is 100% pregnant. Has anyone in soap land ever had a BFN?

Only people who are actually trying to get pregnant. Like Toyah.

PiggieWig · 16/11/2024 00:42

Anyone else think the Rovers looked loads more like a studio in the special than it does normally? I thought that was quite clever

Getupat8amnow · 16/11/2024 03:36

Coronation Street has totally and utterly lost it's way.

WiddlinDiddlin · 16/11/2024 04:08

I am really hoping for a new writing team soon...

Its ridiculous, all Lauren and Max had to do was call the fucking police and an ambulance and say it was self defence because it WAS...

With Laurens history with Joel, and the fact he was already suffering a head wound and a fairly high blood alcohol level (I know he wasn't as pissed as he was making out that night but he had drunk a bit), no way were they getting into serious trouble over it.

CellophaneFlower · 16/11/2024 06:47

I think the fact Max went looking for Joel might have shown intent especially as it was both of them. Have no idea why they didn't throw the rock and gas in the actual river 🤷‍♀️

Not actually sure about Deedee being pregnant as thought they'd have shown the BFP in the episode. At 1 point she was all light headed etc... so I had thought pregnant, but DS Swain was acting the same so I thought Joel was drugging them! Not sure of timeline now and if that was when Lisa was covering her injuries. Beyond ridiculous though that she was strolling about with that level of injury 😱

They NEVER do this in soaps and it's highly annoying. Same in Eastenders. They've got a storyline that, come next month, will have been running for a year. Yeah, the guy was killing the woman in front of others, but let's not phone the police. Instead we'll form a group to kill him and bury him under the caff Hmm

Don’t care about Lauren. Corrie have done to death the gobby, chavvy, tell-it-like -it-is female character. It’s the same character over the last twenty years, just a different face - Karen, Becky, Gemma, Kylie, the one on Doctor Who who just left, I’m forgetting others but it’s the same character. Rough as fuck, misunderstood but the love of a ‘good’ man can ‘soften’ her. This character gets the most screen time and we are literally held hostage until the actress thinks she’s better than the Street and moves on.

Sorry, I just had to let that out. It’s been pissing me off for years.

👏👏👏

BFP ???

DaisyStarburst · 16/11/2024 07:52

Very disappointed with ALL of it!

A year? I haven’t watched Eastenders for years now but a year seems an awful long time in soapland for a storyline. What do the viewers think of the storyline?

Freysimo · 16/11/2024 08:38

Wasn't Joel's body found in the river trussed up in a body bag?

CellophaneFlower · 16/11/2024 08:46

ceecee32 · 16/11/2024 07:23

BFP ???

Big Fat Positive (pregnancy test). Normally if they're pregnant you see them taking it quite quickly. When it's going to be negative there's lots of waving the box about before using it.

That it's rubbish! But not nearly as rubbish as the other long running storyline they have where Biaaancaaaa is being kept in a garage and apparently egg boxes stuck to the walls are enough to silence her foghorn 😂

Shellingbynight · 16/11/2024 08:55

I know this is soapland but the whole scenario was ridiculous. Max's only objective for driving to a lonely spot in the middle of the night had to be to kill Joel, because why else? To give him a good talking to? And it was far more likely he’d end up dead because Joel was a tad more aggressive. So calling the police and saying it was self defence would look a bit odd because they chose to run around on a viaduct with a killer.

DD would not in a million years have an abortion due to her religious faith. Yet another way of making this carry on forever.

And Swain standing in front of that car waiting to be run over just because the guy stole a handbag, as if!😆

The entire storyline has been a total mess.

Myattention · 16/11/2024 08:56

How old is Max? Did I miss the driving lesson episodes and him passing his test?

The Kit wiki page on Corrie actually said " trussed up"
Bit odd

I was thinking the same, I don't remember him being able to drive. Was he supposed to be driving David's car?

PrincessScarlett · 16/11/2024 09:06

I think Max is meant to be 17/18 but we've never seen him learning to drive.

Shellingbynight · 16/11/2024 09:22

Wiki says he was born in sept 2006. So he would only have been able to learn/pass in the last year and that definitely did not happen on screen.

Edited

I remember Bianca. That also sounds a rubbish and weird storyline lol. Also, I don’t know if you watch Emmerdale but the Tom and Belle storyline has been dragging, I think that’s less than a year even though it feels more than a year!

Same here, I don't remember him learning to drive or passing his test.
David and Shona must be very heavy sleepers! I don't think I would have slept through all the commotion going on downstairs between Lauren and Max.

That isn't even the weirdest part of the storyline believe me.

The Tom and Belle storyline I don't mind dragging as much as I do think it's a good storyline to highlight domestic abuse and how a lot of it is mental, not just physical. However, the whole axe thing was ridiculous and Tom wandering about saying "hmmm" all the time is driving me up the wall! I do like that the police believe Belle though.

CellophaneFlower · 16/11/2024 09:56

Anonymous tip off to the police about where Joel was was all max needed to do. I have no idea what he thought he was going to do as he'd already just shit his pants when he thought Joel was in the garden 🤷‍♀️

Allthehorsesintheworld · 16/11/2024 10:07

I’ve never been so bored by a storyline as I have by this one. Joel was a wishy washy baddie, nowhere near Richard Hillman/Phelan. All because of the weak writing. Max and Lauren are acting their socks off but it’s all wasted in the stupidity of the storyline.
If they’re going to write “ supposedly respectable lawyer abuses teenage girls” storylines at least do real victims justice by writing properly.

CellophaneFlower · 16/11/2024 10:13

They buggered it up by killing him off. The whodunit was lauren getting attacked. No need for another one with his death. And nobody really cares when it's a wrongun that's been murdered.
