Starts Monday 11th November on Paramount+

Anyone want to join me in a watch thread as we head into the second part of S5? I’m like 7 year old me on Xmas eve waiting for my new Rip fix 😂

How will John Dutton be written out? Any theories?

Rewatching, Lloyd just says he doesn't want to cowboy anymore, if he can't at the Dutton Yellowstone ranch.

This is after Rip offered him a home with him and Beth at their new ranch near Dutton.

And something about hanging round South(?) Yellowstone, to "educate" the tourists?

Feministwoman · 17/12/2024 23:22

Grr Dillon ranch, not Dutton!

I think the ending was apt, the aim was preservation of the land not ownership.

I agree.

And although it was so sad to see the empty bunkhouse, the Y coming down, the ending fitted the origin story with Elsa.

😢

Ugh Beth has to be the worst on-screen character of all time!!!!! I wanted to throw everything at the screen every time that psychotic bitch was on it 🤬🤬🤬 Poor Jamie! The only normal person in that family. I always rooted for Jamie but of course that psycho always had to win🙄 Every time she said "daddy" it made my skin crawl. Only someone as dim-witted as Rip could stand being around that.

I for one am very glad at the outcome for a certain person!
I thought it was good, I like how it was all tied up and the end with Elsa.
for a season that lacked the main character as such, the finale was probably the best episode for me.
looking forward to a Beth and rip spin off.

Omg how can anyone stand Beth?!? She was completely insufferable and just an absolutely psychotic bitch. Just repulsive

Lovewine1975 · 16/01/2025 09:26

To be fair I think Jamie get everything he deserved after having his dad murdered, I have no sympathy for him whatsoever, I think Beth is very OTT however the show wouldn't be as good as it is without her in it.

He didn't get his dad murdered! He didn't even know about the whole thing until Sarah told him after the fact.

I disagree about Beth - she made the show unwatchable for me. Literally the worst on-screen character ever.

John Dutton himself was quite insufferable at times and his reign as Governor was very akin Donald Trump, but nothing compared to his crazy daughter

Lovewine1975 · 16/01/2025 10:09

@XelaM I worded that wrong, he wanted his dad dead or thought he did until it actually happened.

I actually thought he wanted his sister dead (I don't blame him!) because he rightly thought she was going to get him assassinated

A little bit late, but watched them all now.

I don't understand why Kevin Costners name was in the acting credits in these episodes though.

Which was making me really overthink that JD might be popping back to life or something.

I deep down wasn't shocked about Jamie in the last episode. You could see it coming. Beth followed through with everything for the whole series, and so I deep down suspected it would go that way. And also where he would end up.

My heart skipped a beat when they were kicking the tombstones down though.

Yeah it was predicable that poor Jamie was going to lose to the psycho bitch who everyone pandered to the whole series. I also didn't see how losing the ranch to JD's arch enemy of old was somehow a "win" that everyone accepted. Surely losing the whole ranch was worse than selling some of it.

CerealPosterHere · 16/02/2025 22:43

I wonder how it would all have ended if Costner had come back for the final season? Assume John dutton wouldn’t have died, the ranch wouldn’t have been sold, etc.

Feministwoman · 20/02/2025 19:50

Rewatched the whole lot, just realised the knife Kayce used to seal the deal with Tom was the knife originally gifted to Elsa.

Feministwoman · 11/03/2025 01:18

Anyone watching 1923 S2?

And the fact it’s taken a whole series and 3 episodes and Spencer it still not back at the ranch.

SevenKingsMustDie · 11/03/2025 07:46

I'm waiting for the whole season to land so I can get a month's Paramount+ to binge it all...can't wait!!

Bankholidayhelp · 11/03/2025 07:57

I think with Alex's accent it was that she thought if she sounded posher than she does she was more likely to get in. So she got posher sounding as the episode went on. But I think the immigration official thought she was Irish. So failed there.

And the whole Alex of Sussex thing. I nearly spat my tea out. Think the writers have been watching too much Meghan.

same

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/03/2025 11:57

I'm sick of them keeping Spencer and Alex in peril and apart I want them to get to Boseman!

Feministwoman · 11/03/2025 19:18

I'm enjoying it, but omg Taylor Sheridan really hates women, doesn't he.

I think Helen Mirren, Timothy Dalton and Harrison Ford are absolutely brilliant in it.

I love that Zane is regarded as family, (just like Rip!)

Feministwoman · 11/03/2025 19:21

To give TS his due though, he does highlight the appalling treatment of the Native Americans, by nearly everyone from Government down.

That's quite unusual in USA TV shows.

Oblomov25 · 14/03/2025 22:19

Only interested in commenting on 1923 S2 Spencer and Alex. Is there a separate thread please?

tennissquare · 14/03/2025 22:26

@Oblomov25 , it's called " 1923 and Reacher are back" .

Oblomov25 · 14/03/2025 22:29

Thank you.
