Yellowstone S5 Part 2 watch thread - one more sleep to go! Contains spoilers [Title edited by MNHQ at OP's request]

Starts Monday 11th November on Paramount+

Anyone want to join me in a watch thread as we head into the second part of S5? I’m like 7 year old me on Xmas eve waiting for my new Rip fix 😂

How will John Dutton be written out? Any theories?

Pity that an awful lot of time was wasted by it being a Taylor Sheridan showcase yet again🙄 rather than progressing the story line of the Duttons and the Ranch.

Particularly as there's only one more episode to go, now 😭

Netaporter · 09/12/2024 11:24

Just watched it...tbh I know a lot of it was setting up for the finale but I agree the Taylor show was a bit excessive. I appreciate he's probably well chuffed at his own personal physique but I didn't really need to see so much...

My theory is next week, Jamie tries to do as his ex advises, but Beth is one step ahead and probably has footage of him and Sarah together. Her promise was to take the child away from him, so who knows - maybe the child is taken away from both Jamie and his ex?

100% they are selling the land back to the indigenous people for $1.

No idea where Kacey is going to set up shop next.

Totally agree.
Wonder why Beth hadn't thought of that, given she's meant to be the cut throat business hot shot?

I think they'll let him stay in the building they renovated.

I've not seen it yet but that Taylor makes my skin crawl.

He was on Lionesses a few times too, and it was just like the Kenny Everett sketch "Then all my clothes fell off"!

Always got his top off, no matter what the story.

Absolutely makes my skin crawl and can imagine him being a sleaze on the casting couch. 🤢

Lol DH and I noted that he had written himself into Lioness involving showing 'the guns' 😂

Would love to know what he has on the studio execs
this all feels so rushed like he just wants it out of the way and can’t be bothered

I think it's because it is all his own fault. Kevin Costner was ready on the dates pre-agreed and had other commitments to his own filming projects. Taylor Sheridan was not ready with the scripts for the filming (and tbf I am not sure if the SAG strike was also a factor) so they tried to strong-arm KC who did not play ball. Hence the 18 month delay in these last eps arriving. I agree that this episode in particular was very poor and frankly a bit of a Taylor love in.

I wonder what the original scripts were like?

The Bosque Ranch stuff was just filler crap, watching now, it's a lot of story left to tell.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/12/2024 18:59

I hope it isn't gearing up for a Travis spin off

Myattention · 09/12/2024 20:17

The Travis scenes with strip poker and the swimming pool were awful. Offered nothing to the episode beyond making him look like a sleeze 🤮

TwentyBillion · 09/12/2024 20:58

My god that was a waste of time. The whole thing was sleazy and awful. It was like a teenage boys wet dream come true.

Sheridan was on a big ego trip. How awful! Got a slating in the reviews too. Think he may have overestimated his popularity. Stick to what you do best and it ain't "acting"!

Ending was just a big flat nothing!

Not sure I will be assed to watch the next series.

TwentyBillion · 09/12/2024 21:10

OMG this one is even better

Episode 1313_represents an almost unimaginable feat of self-mythologizing, a fictionalized act of fantasy world-building that borders on masturbatory, operating on a level that so far exceeds expectations that you have to ask yourself, Is Taylor Sheridan okay*

https://www.vulture.com/article/yellowstone-taylor-sheridan-bella-hadid-season-5-episode-13.html

only way to escape is for everyone to finally tell him he’s an awesome guy who’s every bit as good as Kevin Costner

Ouch!!

Netaporter · 09/12/2024 21:53

Well I just watched the season finale of Lioness and said to DH, how is it possible he’s written himself in again just to be the big hero,

I do not think that Taylor Sheridan is ok at all right now 😂

OP posts:
TwentyBillion · 09/12/2024 22:02

Did Kevin Costner have any say on the scrips as I can imagine if he had read any of this shit he'd have had words with Sheridan.

Maybe that's what the fall out was about?

Costner must be Smug McSmugface at the moment.

Gosh yes, having just started a binge watch of Lionesses, I agree!

Myattention · 10/12/2024 06:17

I eye rolled at the season finale of Lioness. That was a bit disappointing too. That was an awful episode of Yellowstone. With so many questions, it was a complete filler of an episode where nothing happened. I cannot believe Beth didn’t think of the dollar thing herself. Such a shame as there is just next week to go.

Apparently originally yes but TS didn’t have enough of a script ready when filming was due to take place, hence the huge wait. By the time the scripts were ready KC had other filing commitments and there was a falling out.

MaddieElla · 10/12/2024 12:42

The most stupid thing is Beth not coming up with the selling the ranch for $1 idea.

Taylor just looks ridiculous on a horse 🙄

Feministwoman · 10/12/2024 22:24

The thing I don't understand.

Beth said, they've taken a mortgage out on the Ranch to pay the death duties, the yard sale was to fund the first year mortgage payments, and they'd lease any equipment and stock to restart the Ranch, and aim to use future profits to service the mortgage debt year on year.

Ok, but if they sell the Ranch for $1, they will STILL be liable for the mortgage repayments every year?

So, will Beth and Kayce expect the tribe to take on the mortgage, if they buy the Ranch lands for $1? How will the Tribe afford that?

Patienceinshortsupply · 10/12/2024 22:32

I'm struggling to get through this week. Sigh. It's a real low after the last 2 weeks.

I think, but might be wrong, that it’s the land, not the house and the bunk house, stalls etc that will be sold for a dollar. I suspect that way they can still run a ranch somehow but they’ve sold the main asset which is the acres of land. Perhaps they will rent that back for a dollar a year.

Myattention · 11/12/2024 07:22

But a further thought is why on earth was there no estate planning in place to avoid all of this! I can’t see why JD wouldn’t have all of this sorted! I know it’s only TV.

Feministwoman · 11/12/2024 08:22

Particularly as Beth had POA, had put the land into the conservation trust etc!
