Anyone want to join me in a watch thread as we head into the second part of S5? I’m like 7 year old me on Xmas eve waiting for my new Rip fix 😂

How will John Dutton be written out? Any theories?

Well, will the last episode be a damp squid, a Taylor fest or a satisfying wrap up?

I hope it’s good, especially after last weeks awful episode. A lot to get into an hours episode assuming it’s not extended.

It's an hour and a half long, but it's directed by TS, so god knows what we'll get!

However, a spin off with Beth and Rip was confirmed this week 💕

I'll have to avoid this thread and media in general tomorrow because I won't see it til about 7pm

Well, I thought it was good.

Now watched it. My thoughts:

Overall, loved the way that all of the storylines were tied up nicely. Obviously loved Beth… and the immense amount of Rip action 😍

Unnecessary: Taylor Sheridan appearing AGAIN. Absolutely gone down in my estimation with his self-centred egotistical nonsense.

Yep. He even dominated the start!

That wasn't acting, the man is as boorish and obnoxious IRL I suspect

Nicely done but left me unmoved. Unlike the finale of Wolf Hall: mirror and the light, which moved me to tears last night. But then TS is no Hilary Mantel! 😂 Thrilled to hear there's going to be a Beth and Rip spin off. Fantastic chemistry between those characters/actors.

I am 30 minutes in and bawling my eyes out.

All neatly done but no soul. Lots of timewasting. Good to hear Elsa.

And what happened about the inheritance tax bill?

Tax was due on the amount the ranch was sold for, not its value. At 1.1m as the sale price the tax bill was affordable.

Ah, not on the assessed value of the assets?.

I for one am very glad at the outcome for a certain person!
I thought it was good, I like how it was all tied up and the end with Elsa.
for a season that lacked the main character as such, the finale was probably the best episode for me.
looking forward to a Beth and rip spin off.

The Ranch near Dillon is near Madison, according to Google earth.
Which is the name of a new spin off, The Madison, with Michelle Phifpher in a leading role.

Thought it was a great finale and loose ends tied up.

Good finale and I was crying throughout, love Beth and RIP together they looked so much happier at the end on there new farm. Agree with others about TS he is a total 🔔 end

I'm a bit torn having just watched it. It was well done and lots of loose ends tied up but I still don't get why they went down the road of the Dutton family losing the ranch that 7 generations had fought so hard to keep. It made all the other seasons not make sense.

It also kind of ruins the off spins like 1883 and 1923 a little, knowing that the family will just give it all up. Meh.

I must have missed it but what happeded to Llyod? Where did he move to?

When he was speaking to Rip, he said the only place he’d cowboy was the Yellowstone. He retired when Rip offered him a job at the new ranch Barth bought but he decided to stay behind.

I thought it fitted the story really well, they were supposed to lose the land.

I guess maybe I need to watch again.

It just feels like the Game of Thrones ending, just a bit underwhelming and a damp squib.

I think the ending was apt, the aim was preservation of the land not ownership.
