The rest of the thread title

"For it's not easy to not get lipsed on the down low without someone getting lippy. Casper is still dying of cringe and Shitlid sees no way out. For we are all scrambling for our dignity, whilst watching the utter mockery"

It was a joint effort by us all.

I'd love to see Emma take on Alex. She'd stay calm and logical unlike Sasha and Polly.

Tittat50 · 24/10/2024 16:38

I really hope something more exciting happens this evening.

Prediction - Holly will return, argue with Alex, storm off. Alex will argue with at least 2 other people. Caspar and Emma will make each other feel rubbish. Nafe will play theme tunes to his favourite cartoons in his head and occasionally say nice things to Lacey. There will be at least 2 eye-watering outfits. Gaston will embarrass Amy but give us a new thread title 😁

Spot on. They only thrive on people who are reactive. Sasha was understandably reactive but couldn't control herself when he went low. Considering her age, she's doing ok. I hope she just completely avoids him going forward.

All Ross needs to do is say to Sasha, I agree his behaviour is x, y,z and it's best we avoid him.
When Alex approaches him for chats or whatever 'bros only' shit, he just needs to tell Alex, no, I'm not going there Alex. I understand why Sasha was upset. Let's just leave it now and move on. End of.

That won't happen though.

That's not what Sasha wants, she wants her man to go all Daddy Ming on Alex.

Tittat50 · 24/10/2024 19:09

@dapsnotplimsolls 🤣 yes she probably does want that. I have to admit I'd love to see daddy Ming rip him a new one. He needs a few daddy Mings in his Sphere right now.

I don't see what would be the racist implication.

Polly's saying 'you're behaving as though I'm speaking a language you don't understand a word of'. Hence picking a language she's got no reason to think she, Alex, or anyone there, speaks. (unless I've missed something about his background or studies).

If Polly was being racist, the point would surely be assuming that Alex should understand Swahili because he is black.

Swahili is a complicated language to learn. A lot of really interesting agglutination. It's not widely taught in the UK so a fair enough candidate to use as in 'it's all Greek to me' or 'Double Dutch'.

It's perfectly possible to use an African word in conversation with a black person and there be no implied racism, even if it's an argument

Goes off to Google agglutination!

VictoriaSpungecake · 23/10/2024 22:55

Also, Sacha didn't give her husband the full story. She said that Alex said he would drive past her in his 4x4, but she didn't say WHY he said that, which was in response to her saying that she was "above" him. He said she had fake jewellery after she, quite aggressively gave him the finger. She got her husband all riled up, but didn't own her part in the argument.

This programme is quite troubling. Perhaps the producers don't know what they're dealing with. This programme is a tragedy waiting to happen.

But he was laughing in her face when she said she was above him which is why she said that. I agree she didn’t say the full story but the above him comment was because of how he was behaving towards her.

Justletmelogon · 24/10/2024 19:40

It seems Sasha giving him the finger and saying "fuck you" has been applauded here, if it had been the other way round it would've been condemned.?
Now she's getting Ross to back her up without the whole story, so of course Alex is going to be on the defensive.
I'd rather face Alex in a argument than be bullied by the Polly, Holly , Sacha and Richelle collective.

BookishType · 24/10/2024 19:44

Just watched last night’s. I think Sasha is bloody awful. If a man behaved like she does, there’d be an outcry. Aggressive, possessive, irrational and confrontational. The guy she’s with needs to run.

I can’t see why Alex is so lambasted either. Massive double standards.

Oneandahalfonagoodday · 24/10/2024 19:57

MixedCouple2 · 24/10/2024 17:41

None of these couples will still be together. They are all very broken and hurt people who need proper therapy before introducing a serious partner into their lives.
K&K are not going to go very far same with S&R.

Nah, they'll all be fine and end up on CelebZ (sic) Go Dating!* 🤣

*(Emphasis on the Z!)

JaneJeffer · 24/10/2024 19:57

There's none so blind as them that cannot see

Tittat50 · 24/10/2024 19:58

Are we all watching the same programme here? Just checking I haven't been lobotomised and don't realise it.

They're all massively flawed and for the most part incredibly immature.

Alex however is god damn terrifying. I will bet my bottom dollar he's left a trail of at least 2 traumatised women in his wake. I'm sure even the charity Refuge commented on him and his behaviour towards women in the media. And his behaviour is systematically concerning around females. This cannot be compared to Sasha and her somewhat immature ' reactive ' response.

Polpot and Holly are horrible bullies to other women. I'm not scared of them. Alex I absolutely would be if he was anyway involved in my life, in my sphere or anyone I knew. It's not about double standards, it's about realistically understanding the threat level. Alex takes the crown - if we can get it over his gigantic forehead that is.

VictoriaSpungecake · 24/10/2024 19:58

JaneJeffer · 24/10/2024 14:28

Yeah it used to be a common saying because Swahili is difficult to learn I think 🤷🏻‍♀️

I suspect that isn't why it used to be common usage.

Donttellempike · 24/10/2024 19:58

Alex is a simmering ball of misogynistic rage. Anyone who has been in an abusive relationship can see all the tropes.

He’s only happy when he’s being agreed with. It’s completely irresponsible to put him on TV and pretend his behavior is not problematic.

JaneJeffer · 24/10/2024 19:59

murasaki · 24/10/2024 15:07

To be fair, I only learned about the Irish one (assuming you mean what I think you do) from MN, and I'm part Irish so should have known better. And my mum certainly should have. I don't use it now.

As previously said, every day is a school day.

I think that's a different one which I actually hate more Grin

I would have laughed in her face too if someone told me they were above me. And when you say laughed in her face he was on the other side of the room.

By the way, I am not pro- Alex, but I really hate when people distort the truth (not aiming this at you, by the way). That's what feels like gaslighting. Just because we don't like him doesn't mean we have to condone the awful behaviour of others.

cout · 24/10/2024 20:06

Low to me is a white woman telling a black man that she is above him. And her friend asking him if she is speaking Swahili.*

*Other older people have said that the phrase was in common usage a while ago, but I have never heard someone of Polly's age use it. So why did that pop into her brain?

Why have the producers focused on Alex when Ryan was obviously indulging in shitty behaviour behind the scenes. Everyone is afraid of Alex, but everyone was swooning over Ryan. Most abuse happens behind closed doors. We don't know who any of these people are because we only know what the shows editors want us to know/see.

Dillite2 · 24/10/2024 20:08

Untrue. I didn't swoon once.
