The rest of the thread title

"For it's not easy to not get lipsed on the down low without someone getting lippy. Casper is still dying of cringe and Shitlid sees no way out. For we are all scrambling for our dignity, whilst watching the utter mockery"

It was a joint effort by us all.

Yeah it used to be a common saying because Swahili is difficult to learn I think 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn't know this. Every day is a learning opportunity for Titat on MN 😁

JaneJeffer · 24/10/2024 14:34

I've tried googling it but can't find any mention of it as a saying but it definitely was. It says it's easy to learn as well so now I'm totally confused. Mandela effect?

Teeh · 24/10/2024 11:25

Siobhan looked pretty traumatised and exhausted by it all.

She got increasingly more shaky as the series progressed. Could be anything of course behind that.

I wish we'd seen more of Ryan being a bugger. I get so enraged by these duplicitous fuckers and I feel a bit cheated that the full extent of him wasn't exposed.

Gaston - please don't say he's going to become a full blown sex pest as things progress.

No time for Polpot, yet, I commend her for standing up to that psycho Alex. I did also find it refreshing that he called out the fact Shitlid has no interest. No one else is saying it and unfortunately it was him, but at least that's one reflection of reality he did communicate.

Teeh · 24/10/2024 14:39

I am not sure it was Alex’s place the call that out though? I felt is was mean and uncalled for.

JaneJeffer · 24/10/2024 14:40

When Ryan was doing that jaw clenching thing he looked ready to explode.

murasaki · 24/10/2024 14:40

Alex just uses whatever ammunition he has. There wasn't anything with Sacha hence the jewelry and implying he's richer than her but he did have that doozy for Polpot so mobilised it.

I think it's fair to say alot of people just don't realise these things. As pointed out - the intent is what matters. Sadly, intent isn't always clear, especially when dealing with gaslighting bastards, so it's a difficult one to prove.

I again confess I had no idea the phrase nitty gritty has it's origins in slavery and is understandably offensive to many. I was ripped a new arsehole over saying the phrase a number of years ago. Yet the intent was completely innocent for me at the time. There's so much we could go into here that it would take all day.

The responsibility here really relies on the Producers; who don't seem to have a brain cell between them this series, so there's little hope.

@JaneJeffer

He displayed cheek bollocks a wee while ago now.

I don’t care for narrowing eyes and cheek bollocks.

HippyShopper · 24/10/2024 14:42

I’ve used the term “am I speaking Dutch “ , mainly with DS when he doesn’t seem to be listening!! I’ve also hear people say “ am I speaking a different language “!
The phrase is just used when you’re trying to explain something simple and the other person is not understanding or listening!! Never seen it used as a racial slur !!
Not defending Polly though as she’s a dreadful bully !!

Yeah Shitlid has been making an effort and he obviously does feel some attraction to Polly. He said he loves her eyes so that's something I guess Grin

Bit of an over reaction from Sacha about the photo? High maintenance springs to mind.

The way he entered the room laughing just killed me. It triggered me because I have people like this in my sphere and you know the signs and what they are capable of. It's quite formulaic.
I'd be storming down that studio dragging him off that show if I was his mum. She might be scared of the little shite. We'll never know.

JaneJeffer · 24/10/2024 14:45

@Tittat50 I once had a great time on a thread getting MN to take down a phrase that is offensive to Irish people from their talk guidelines!

I think she's trying to replicate her parents' marriage down to the last details. Maybe the possessiveness comes from something she's seen modelled by them. Certainly seems possessive to the point where it'd be stifling in a relationship. A bit young for her age, I think.

Floofydawg · 24/10/2024 14:43

I agree it looked that way. I think what was really happening is she has been riled up immensely by Alex, king of the foreheads, then felt that she had zero support from Ross. Sacha can clearly spot Alex's misogyny and his tactics to recruit people to do his bidding. No man was really calling it out at all and on some level this is threatening for many women who have a good level of awareness. So seeing that photo ( which wasn't anything) was the final straw for her and was more accurately a reaction to all that happened leading up.

I don't believe Sacha couldn't learn a thing or two regards how to handle people like Alex, but it isn't easy. She did well to challenge him in a way no one else did. Kudos also to Polpot there.

Ah, that's interesting! I've no idea where I picked it up. 😄

JaneJeffer · 24/10/2024 14:51

Does anyone else think Sacha's bracelet is actually an ankle chain?

ruethewhirl · 24/10/2024 14:51

OnlyWhenILaugh · 24/10/2024 13:53

no one else see Kristen upset at Kieran kissing polly at dinner party? I did @Pinkfluffypencilcase and my heart went out to her. She's got so much to contend with and she's so understanding of Kieran (too much so perhaps) that this looks like a real slap in the face. The cold sore magically ok and he's kissing somone else on the lips! Poor Kristina.

Really?! I missed that! I'm so sad it's not looking good for them, they were so sweet together till recently.

I thought it seemed very loose fitting, to the point where it could fall off...

@Tittat50 I once had a great time on a thread getting MN to take down a phrase that is offensive to Irish people from their talk guidelines!

Oh Jeffers, please say it wasn't me who said it 😆.

I can imagine the reaction to your request was not quite supported with the same level of fervour as other requests.

I mean I still don't understand the problem with my picture representing Hannah as Regan from the Exorcist post 4kids fellatio 🤷‍♀️😆

JaneJeffer · 24/10/2024 15:01

@Tittat50 no it was MN itself in the actual talk guidelines! I didn't start the complaint thread but we had a lot of craic on it Grin

Let's be clear: when Alex said he would drive past Sacha in his 4x4 what he meant was that he would leave her behind in his wake, that she is not in his league. It was nothing more sinister than that. This is important. It is so common that people single out the only black person in the show to represent them as "threatening" and "aggressive". Alex should be more careful about the way he behaves - he is old enough to know the way that black men are perceived by the public. Sad but true.

He was mocking her because she hasn't got a car, then he said the Range Rover comment.

He's a prick. That's not a racist comment. He's just is a prick.

murasaki · 24/10/2024 15:07

To be fair, I only learned about the Irish one (assuming you mean what I think you do) from MN, and I'm part Irish so should have known better. And my mum certainly should have. I don't use it now.

As previously said, every day is a school day.

cout · 24/10/2024 15:07

VictoriaSpungecake · 24/10/2024 08:32

I would add that the way some people on reality shows sometimes treat people of colour is reprehensible. If any of you watch MIC...I saw Maeva and her husband treat Miles Nazaire as though he is subordinate to them, demanding an apology from him. He stood his ground. Good for him. Producers really need to be alert to this shit.

Sorry to derail the thread, I will shut up now.

What are you on about.

That had absolutely nothing to do with the colour of his skin. You are making a race a big deal.

murasaki · 24/10/2024 15:08

I don't think he was implying a drive by shooting. As you said, he was simply mocking the fact that she doesn't have a car. Pathetic, but nothing more in it.
