MAFS UK is back!!

1000 replies

bumblenbean · 07/09/2024 23:09

Can’t see another thread on this so sorry if I’ve missed it, but I surely can’t be the only sad sack unduly excited that MAFS is back later this month?!

I see a scandal has kicked off before it’s even started due to one of the contestants allegedly being a domestic abuser 😱

Anyone want to join a discussion thread for when the series starts on 16th? 🙌

Oh the mum is way over the top and loud. Would be off putting. The twin is really pretty. The dress is disgusting. Why does it have cut outs? Why is she going on about her looks so much. She needs therapy, not to be a fake marriage bride on tv.

chaosmaker · 17/09/2024 22:42

ADHD can make you brutally honest sometimes. He wasn't rude to her.

murasaki · 17/09/2024 23:08

Lacey and Nathan give me an Erica and Jordan vibe. She'll be trying to deal with him and suffer in the process. He means well, as far as i can see, but she needs to be valued for herself, and part of that problem is her own self perception.

Charlie is way too full on.

Marcipex · 17/09/2024 23:42

We are absolutely boggling at Lacey’s mothers reaction on seeing the groom. Fgs woman. What an excruciating scene.

I also think that Paige walking down the aisle with a bouquet was a cruel set-up. It wasn’t unreasonable to think a bride might choose a pink dress for the wedding.

familyissues12345 · 18/09/2024 00:04

I just can't fathom it out. I know it's probably all set up, but what would possess someone like Lacey, who is obviously very insecure, to think it's a good idea to come on a programme like this? Where there's a risk the groom won't fancy her as he didn't pick her Confused

To me it was all just too over the top and fake..

Charlie is just wayyyy too much all at once!

She is way too keen too soon, can see from next day spoilers that Eve seems to be complex.

Appalonia · 17/09/2024 21:14

My God she looked about 40 when she was a bodybuilder!!!

That'll be the steroid abuse hubby says

JudgieJudie · 18/09/2024 07:57

Lacey looks like a Temu Katie Price.

Demonhunter · 18/09/2024 08:45

Why are the friends stirring it for Lacey telling her the wow comment, knowing the history! Nasty.

Also I'm feeling Eve and Charlie IF Charlie calms her pash a bit, could see them being compatible if she tones it down.

Kristina and Kieran I think are going to implode eventually as both so OTT (although hope I'm wrong as they seem swèet)

Poor Casper I think has been pushed into this by his family and his sisters comment about her being of their ilk, when he was clearly not feeling it, speaks volumes!

Nogaxeh · 18/09/2024 09:02

On Eve and Charlie the experts did their usual thing of putting together two quite different sorts of people, and then expecting one of the couple (Eve) to take responsibility for moderating the other (Charlie in this case).

But most of the time what happens is that the difference creates a clash, this clash is blow out of proportion because both of them are feeling super insecure about "marrying" a stranger, and uncertain whether the other really likes them, and they aren't able to resolve the clash.

DW was fuming at the producers for matching Caspar with the spitting image of his sister, and provoking all this upset in Emma and Caspar for the sake of the joke. It was funny, and they edited the wedding really well to make the most of it, but the next few weeks of watching them struggle with it feels unnecessarily cruel. I really hope Caspar has the good sense and honesty to Leave at the first opportunity.

I don't know why the producers do this. I much prefer to see matches that have a chance of working.

Righttoo · 18/09/2024 09:49

So glad found this thread. Yes I agree the stirring with the twin sister was awful. I actually think he did really really well to switch allegiances and focus on Lacey once he knew she was the bride. There hasn’t really been any scenes with him showing affection for the rein, except for the wow comment which wasn’t his fault as he was basically set up.

Bridesmaids usually have bouquets.

Marcipex · 18/09/2024 10:33

@blossomtoes fair point.

I still think it was meant to -and did- catch him out.

I wonder how many of these people genuinely want to find love and lasting marriages.

If they do - it's really cruel how the Producers exploit them. Yes, I know we love it as it creates the entertainment but some people are obviously very naive and a bit vulnerable. I think Lacey and her bloke for example. Even Lacey's sister, clearly set up to go first down the aisle in that outfit and create drama. The mates have also been told to tell the poor girl. And then you've got Lacey's mum acting pretty inappropriate and embarrassing for the poor girl.

I think she's going to be quite a genuine decent person who will struggle with the elements of his ADHD e.g the way he reacted to sister and her is a reflection of his brutal honesty rather than not actually fancying his wife.

HarrietBond · 18/09/2024 10:52

I’ve got ADHD and the no filter/foot in mouth thing is a permanent misery to me.

Catlord · 18/09/2024 11:04

I think the same happened with a previous groom and it was all laughed off although he and family handled it better (prob just said the bride looked even lovelier and that was that). Was it Adam and Tayah?

The friends and mother of Lacey were awful for rubbing that blunder in (I'm sure production were involved but the friends really seemed to enjoy it). For someone so involved in his own image, I don't think Nathan listed looks as a priority. I had a quick nosy out of interest and the two sisters seem to have been beavering away trying to become reality/ SM stars. Paige says she's an opera singer but no videos or audios of her singing.

Eve and Charlie seem interesting women in their own right but I'm not sure will compromise well. I think that could be on both sides, not just the obvious Charlie being to full on.

The bit about Emma's dress size looked nasty, hopefully Caspar doesn't drag this on and make it personal.

murasaki · 18/09/2024 12:05

I think it was Tristan and Cassandra on the 0z version re the mistaken bride.

Twonewcats · 18/09/2024 12:45

I've caught up with the first 2 episodes.

What a farce.

Poor Lacey - the entire VT was her saying how her sister was always deemed the pretty one.

He said wow because he thought it was his bride.
Then Lacey appeared when he was rattled and ADHD'd out his nut. He literally panicked. On his piece to camera, he said he really fancied Lacey, so it's so unfair to throw him under the bus, especially when it's all to do with a diagnosed condition and also her extreme insecurities.

Twonewcats · 18/09/2024 12:52

Also, Mel is looking wonderful amid her health battles.

Pantaloons99 · 18/09/2024 12:52

@Twonewcats yes, that's exactly how I saw it unfold. The pair of them massively exploited.

But that's what we enjoy 😬 it wouldn't be the same without the drama. I do wonder why on earth these people subject themselves to this, surely knowing that they will be massively exploited, at the mercy of the editors, paired up according to who will cause most drama instead of most suitable.

They must be chasing the fame because when you consider the above, it makes no sense.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/09/2024 13:38

Charlie terrifies me. (Anyone who is a self confessed Drama Queen are usually warning you they are nuts)

That's it, so far, really (apart from the obvious engineered from the start drama with Nathan / Lacey / twin sister) Poor buggers being set up like that.

I want to be optimistic and think that, now Lacey knows about his ADHD, they can get to know each other without misunderstandings about that creating conflict.

I don't think we saw a preview of those two on the honeymoon, so perhaps they had a very "boring" honeymoon with no drama for the trailer.

Righttoo · 18/09/2024 15:10

I think there must be some viewers who would prefer good matches and love unfolding. I always hope for this and love the follow ups on first dates when the matches have worked out. I mean the drama can be good to watch but I wish the producers would also consider that the viewing public want to see some work out
