Can’t see another thread on this so sorry if I’ve missed it, but I surely can’t be the only sad sack unduly excited that MAFS is back later this month?!

I see a scandal has kicked off before it’s even started due to one of the contestants allegedly being a domestic abuser 😱

I assume the producers do aim to create some happy couples and some nightmare couples. I guess though if you're only trying to create, say, three good couples out of a series, then your chances of getting none are quite high.

I find myself very torn when watching the Aus version (UK version is too bad on the whole to make me think much) as much as it is lovely to watch a Jules and Cam, this format means it would be deadly dull to watch 29458303 episodes of them. Let's face it, the cliffhangers that keep us all riveted are usually about the bad behaviour.

I'm also watching Your Mum, My Dad as well as MAFs and I wondered where they got the participants for both programmes because they seem so different. This includes the children of the people on MMYD. Most of the people on MMYD seem absolutely lovely. As MAFS has progressed over the years the people on it have been more and more I want to be on TV/be an influencer types.

So true. They seem to seek out grotesques on MAFS and stick to a small age range. The Aus version includes the odd older couple.

Pervy Richard was both a grotesque and older though, double whammy box ticking there.

casper (is he the posh one) seems to really hate his twin sister. He said they had history when he was asked if they were close and then lost the plot at her at the table like a toddler.
christina and the clown seem well matched- not sure I could cope spending time with that level of energy though but they seem happy so far
Lacey is obsessed with her twin being prettier. I know it can’t have been easy but I don’t get why her mum, twin and friends are all nodding along and confirming it to her too. Now Lacey’s insecurities about it are going to make her very needy for compliments.

We had Lara and Richie, who was also older and creepy. And Kwame who lived on a park bench.

I’m just catching up. Squirming at Lacey’s awful mum. And Lacey needs to cut all the ugly duckling crap - that could get tired very quickly. She’s fine looking, no better or worse than her sister. Her dress is hideous.

I'll never get over Gemma from the last UK season I think. Going on about her fish parts to her new husband whilst her mum laughed along 😬🤣.

I mean most these people clearly have massive issues. But yes it makes it much more entertaining and enjoyable to watch. I just can't understand how they're all ok with it. 🤷‍♀️

At least with the Aussie MAFS I find the initial wedding eps are watchable before it all falls off a cliff.

Charlie reminds me of someone, is it Jacqueline Jossa? Not in looks so much as in mannerisms maybe?

@chickenlettuceunderbacon oh my goodness she was very annoying on that and didn't come across as attractive at all although she was very young if I remember. It gets odder and odder as they also have lots of different Instagram including this strange twin one with a lot of odd posing.

I don't want to be unkind but Paige has the most grating voice ever, one so bad that the first guy she eliminated on Dress to Impress was relieved! Seriously though, I think Lacey is the oft overlooked one in their family, and incredibly needy as a result.

And yes, I've seen the Instagrams you're speaking off. They're incredibly weird.

MAFS doesn't even try to pretend it's a serious programme/social experiment these days. That said, since it has changed its tack, I've become rather obsessed with it 😂
