It is going through South America.

"The four new famous faces embarking on an epic 12,500 km race of a lifetime are:
Broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son, Freddy
Actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin, Mary Ellen
Broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband, Jeremy
Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband (then fiancé), Sam"

"Their journey begins in Belém, Northern Brazil - the gateway to the Amazon - and will pass through five checkpoints across the length of South America, to reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in Southern Chile."

Disappointed in the winners - they were my least favourite, often so negative and indecisive. Wanted Kola and Mary too, or Kelly and Jeremy. Kelly is so different to how I expected - warmed to her comments about not going out much and loving her garden. Started off liking Jeff and Freddie very much but got fed up with the emoting in the end. The scenery was stunning - best I’ve seen in any series.

Do the celebrities win anything except glory?

Newgirls · 19/09/2024 09:02

I also wondered how Sam and Scott suddenly got coach tickets? That made all the difference didnt it.

ellebelli · 19/09/2024 09:33

I often get confused over the timelines with how it's filmed.
Started out saying I didn't mind who won, but found myself disappointed that it was Scott and sam.
Liked Kelly the best.
Laughed at her comment at the end about how they should just have enjoyed themselves as they came last anyway 😄

ScribblingPixie · 19/09/2024 09:49

I can't help feeling it was a fix for Scott Mills to win. He and Sam were told the coach was sold out and accepted it, but then it suddenly occurred to Sam to go to other windows just in case. Hmmmm. They stayed totally on course while the others, who were keen to win, left the cities for work and weirdly a trip to a waterpark. And they got £70 for a couple of hours working for a hot dog seller - just the amount they needed to finish the race. Spoiled it for me really, though I loved the scenery.

I loved Kelly too. Very warm and funny.
Wasn't disappointed in the end that Scott and Sam won. Was really rooting for them as they were running up that final hill.

It was terrible planning to have the final leg over a major holiday weekend.

I think that was the point! Made it a more challenging final leg for everyone.

£70 was a huge amount for a 'job'. I can’t remember anyone making more than the equivalent of about £30, if that - usually much less. And for making sandwiches in a food truck, when the other jobs were often quite hard physical labour on farms, etc? 🤔

Theydontknowaboutus · 19/09/2024 13:08

Not a great last episode. Didn't root for Scott and Sam, my least favourite of the couples. Would have preferred Mary and Kola to win
. Was confused as to why Jeff and Freddie were hanging round in the water park instead of racing, but ultimately the experience is what they will remember- winning it doesn't really bring anything extra for the celebs, does it?

burnoutbabe · 19/09/2024 16:15

i wanted jeff and freddy to win but they just seemed to give up, they had the most cash too.
So didn't care who of the racing 2 won in the end.

last leg just seemed to be lots of busses. so the winner was just luck i think. Who didn't get caught up in traffic etc. random luck who choose a route that had connections that make sense - no one actually travelling just jumps on a bus without knowing what connections are like at where they get to.

Conniethecatapillar · 19/09/2024 16:54

I think Jeff and Freddie knew they were out of it so they just gave up! It seems like they had some wonderful experiences and so did Mary and Kola. I can't say the same for Scott and his partner they didn't seem to have much fun or so anything memorable for me.

BiscuityBoyle · 19/09/2024 17:14

This and all the others seem to end with a little bit of an anticlimax. I’d like to see a little bit more after the finish. Couples talking about their experiences or all of them talking together in a hotel bar.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 19/09/2024 18:12

definately want a remeet
i wanted kelly or kola - i did like Kelly from the beginning have had no preconceived idea about her,
jeff and freddie got on my nerves
scott had a face on him the whole time and agree what do they win? money for charity?
prestige?

Yes, they didn't seem to actually do any work

MrsLargeEmbodied · 19/09/2024 21:01

i felt sorry for the man who had to employ them

NeverMindTheBackProblems · 19/09/2024 23:38

I think Freddie wanted to go to the water park, Jeff was saying about having to take his mind off the race and looked itching to leave - and then they missed the bus.

I really wanted Kola and Mary to win. I think they are so lovely together and clearly very close. Scott and Sam as winners? I guess it's about the race and not the personalities or their stories as to who wins.

murasaki · 19/09/2024 23:42

Do they do a catch up show like they did with the 'civilian' series?

Edited

I don't think they did for the last celeb one.

murasaki · 20/09/2024 00:10

Oh, a shame, it could be interesting.

Cattyisbatty · 20/09/2024 08:13

I was disappointed that Scott and partner won - they were a bit ‘non entity’ for me. Oh well, I think it was a great celeb series in total.

Maiyakat · 20/09/2024 08:23

I found the final episode really frustrating with too much help given by the production team. How did Koala and Mary pay for the long taxi ride at the start when they had hardly any budget left? I'm presuming the camera operators for the other two teams were kicked off the coach and put in a car so Scott and Sam could magically find two extra tickets at a different window. I wouldn't have minded them being overpaid a bit to allow them to finish the race but make them do a 'proper' job that takes time out of the race, not pretending to make hot dogs between coaches.

It reminded me of series 2 where the uncle and nephew were allowed to use their air pods as part payment for a taxi rather than wait for the bus in order to give a dramatic finish, that was worse because there was prize money at stake.

Maiyakat · 20/09/2024 08:24

Kola not Koala, flaming autocorrect! 🐨

ScribblingPixie · 20/09/2024 08:43

Oh! Good thinking. It would explain why there wasn't any footage of that section.

LuckysDadsHat · 20/09/2024 09:59

I only caught the final last night as I was out Wednesday and I was so disappointed. Any of the other 3 but not Scott Mills. There journeys have been dull dull dull.

It was obviously fixed for the final and I don't think it should be allowed. Other teams have had to drop out of other series because they ran out of money, let it happen in the celeb version as well. Much more exciting than watching them serve hot dogs.

NCTDN · 20/09/2024 22:26

Apparently they really did get paid £72 for selling hotdogs.
