It is going through South America.

"The four new famous faces embarking on an epic 12,500 km race of a lifetime are:
Broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son, Freddy
Actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin, Mary Ellen
Broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband, Jeremy
Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband (then fiancé), Sam"

"Their journey begins in Belém, Northern Brazil - the gateway to the Amazon - and will pass through five checkpoints across the length of South America, to reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in Southern Chile."

This episode was one long effort by Jeff to get Freddie out of his house!

The gaucho and wine jobs looked fun. Stunning scenery as ever.

SwedishEdith · 11/09/2024 22:07

Not really warmed to anyone in this series. I find I'm only half watching.

SoupDragon · 11/09/2024 22:09

I had to watch on a short delay. Great way to go into the final leg! So close!

I like that Jeff is nudging Freddie towards independence. It is quite refreshing compared to the nepotism and privilege you often hear of from "celebrity" families. He really wants his sons to be well rounded, independent young men. Good on him!

murasaki · 11/09/2024 22:24

Kola had a face on the entire episode. He did not seem fun to travel with, Mary is lovely and deserves a better travel companion.

RosePetalsRose · 11/09/2024 22:38

So is Jeremy Italian with a thick French accent? Was he bought up in France?

To be fair he was remembering his dad who suffered with dementia and died recently. Seemed like he was doing a lot of reflecting which is what Mary said she hoped he would do.

I think Kelly and Jeremy are hilarious, so different to each other but they really understand one another and are able to poke fun at their differences. I didn't know much about Kelly before this but I think she comes out of it really well. Freddie seems a nice lad, and I've also really taken to Sam. No idea who will win it but I've enjoyed this series and especially the last couple of episodes in Argentina.

I wondered that. I'd assumed he was French.

jay55 · 12/09/2024 08:01

They should make them all switch partners for the last leg Grin like wife swap.

I found it harder to follow this week, partly brain fog and partly I think they're trying to be too clever with the editing of the time lines.

Exactly that. Italian but raised in France. I googled it a couple of weeks ago but can't now find the details.

I did find a load of modelling photos of him topless and looking totally ripped though.

HotCrossBunplease · 12/09/2024 08:55

I was thinking that Kelly and Scott could have a good time together chatting about radio presenting and super competitive Sam and Jeremy could dash to the finish line together while sharing stories about having a well-known partner!

To a point but the lad is only 19 and working part-time. I would be less about the focus on getting him to move out and more about working out what he is going to to do - upskill, apprenticeship, college? There aren't many 19 year olds in a position to move out they need to be supported until careers and income are established and Freddie seems a long way off that

He did say Freddie can stay until he's ready. He isn't throwing him out onto the streets.

No he isn't throwing him out but then he did say maybe be out in 2 years 😂 When he'd be about 21. I do think some of it is also him just wanting some space for himself after what must have been a tough time raising two young boys on his own so I don't blame him just hoping he will support him in finding his feet career wise too

suburburban · 12/09/2024 10:39

I thought Jeff had remarried or has a new partner?

I really felt for him when he was talking about finding it who he was (or words to that effect). I've been a parent for the last 25 years, 19 of them as a single parent, and I'm about to wave my youngest off to uni. I have no idea who I am now! There will be no school stuff, no extra curricular activities to be taxi for... it's an odd feeling!

Sounds like you have raised great kids. Take time to adjust to this new world you find yourself in. I find that is the weird part of having kids, as they grow and change and transition from one stage to the next, your life does too, you are constantly adjusting things in your own life. As a mum with 3 teenage girls I am slightly envious of you, I am looking forward to a quieter home

Yes I think that he has a wife who has been a parent figure, mentioning her doesn’t fit the narrative though!

Also, Jeff was already separated from Jade Goody by the time she died so he was not a grieving widower.

suburburban · 12/09/2024 13:26

Hmmm

Interesting

I agree.
I don't think he and Jade had a great relationship at many points but they were very young and navigating new found fame, i remember reading it in magazines etc, I was very young at the time younger than them aswell and I thought it was quite toxic at times.

Bit of a boring episode tonight and none of the beautiful scenery of last week.

Sidebeforeself · 12/09/2024 16:59

I think it was fixed so they are all closer for the final leg. I couldn’t understand how Kelly and Jeremy lost so much time. I cannot stand Scott. He’s rude to people - hardly says please or thankyou. In fact they seem a really humourless couple.

SoupDragon · 12/09/2024 17:02

I don't think he's ever claimed to be a grieving widower has he? He had to deal with 2 small children who had lost their mother.

I've just read his wiki page and he had a difficult childhood! I'm surprised he's managed to be such a good father seeing as he appears to have lacked a good male role model. I guess his mother must have done a very good job.

the80sweregreat · 12/09/2024 17:06

Sam and Scott don't seem very happy do they !
Humourless is a good description for them both
Sam was particularly fed up on last night 's one

No, sorry, I did not mean to imply that he had ever made that claim. I like him.

I just meant that many people who don’t quite remember the details from the time could be thinking that he was with Jade when she died. I seem to remember that they were fairly amicably split though.

ellebelli · 13/09/2024 09:31

I agree about it being a bit boring this leg and almost seemed set up to get them all to be the first to sign the book.
Kelly comes across as fun and lovely.
Amazed at how quiet and serious Scott seems, nothing like this radio persona would imply(not that I listen to him much)
Jeremy makes me laugh with how boring he comes across...I'm sure he isn't.
Not fussed who wins.
