It is going through South America.

"The four new famous faces embarking on an epic 12,500 km race of a lifetime are:
Broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son, Freddy
Actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin, Mary Ellen
Broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband, Jeremy
Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband (then fiancé), Sam"

"Their journey begins in Belém, Northern Brazil - the gateway to the Amazon - and will pass through five checkpoints across the length of South America, to reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in Southern Chile."

Jeff did spilt from his wife but are now back together

NeelyOHara1 · 13/09/2024 18:41

In my head, Kelly and her husband are Kelly and Jelly. Not bothered who wins really, just enjoying the vicarious ride :)

NCTDN · 13/09/2024 21:25

I've only half watched this series. There seems to be less focus on the areas and scenery which is what I'm watching it for.

ClaudineMallory · 14/09/2024 10:54

I agree, @NCTDN - I want it to be about the travel, not the relationships, which should be incidental. Too much emoting to camera.

purpleme12 · 14/09/2024 11:07

What do you mean?
It's always been about the relationships and the people as well
Otherwise it would just be more like a travel show

I mean that I want it to be about the travel. Rather than the relationships.

Ive said this before but I liked it when earlier series included more on how they budget e.g. can they afford a drink with their meal etc. This just seems to focus on the price of bus tickets

I think that's a good point. Budgeting, how they deal with everyday issues, how they navigate basic problems like - where are we going to eat, can we get a shower?

Yes true

More jobs as well

Breathmiller · 14/09/2024 13:40

I would be interested in how they spend their budget too, not just on the mode of travel. In the last non celebrity series the woman in the older couple made sandwiches for their lunch. Did they find a supermarket? Or did they nick extra from the morning buffet if they stayed in a hotel? (Often a hot topic on MN 😅).
I presume they need to buy bottled water. And my biggest issue would be how many wee stops are there available.

I have to say I am enjoying this series. I am surprisingly taken with Kelly and Jeff. I think Scott looks out of his comfort zone the most. I love Kola and Mary's relationship and how they are up for enjoying the adventure, not just focusing on winning.

Not sure who will win as I think they all have a good chance but I'm leaning towards thinking that if Jeff and Freddie won I would be happy.

Samcro · 14/09/2024 17:48

Jeff is still annoying me.
in this day and age who expects a 19/21 year old to move out?
i would like the cousins to win, but think they will run out of money.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/09/2024 06:02

i like the cousins too
or kelly and her partner

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/09/2024 06:04

i am struggling to follow though, getting mixed up with Paraguay and Uruguay
not interested in their back stories either

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/09/2024 06:24

Jeff has been on so much reality TV according to his wiki page
he is an absolute pro
i dont mind him and freddy seems very young and demonstrative
although must be very difficult to read all the negative reports about Jade

I agree. I think he's putting too much pressure on Freddie especially as he has ADHD.

ClaudineMallory · 16/09/2024 08:38

I think it's strayed too much into that territory - the relationships should be in the context of the journey, how they are managing, how they deal with the challenges together. Otherwise it's just another reality show.

Arconialiving · 16/09/2024 19:21

I agree @ClaudineMallory

I'd like Kola & Mary to win but they don't have much of their budget left so I'd be surprised if they manage it.

EachandEveryone · 17/09/2024 23:47

Did Jeff’s wife have any children? I don’t think he would kick him out but the lad needs an apprenticeship or something,

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2024 04:46

he will follow the show bizz life wont he?

FrenchandSaunders · 18/09/2024 08:37

I want Kelly and Jeremy to win.

SoupDragon · 18/09/2024 09:17

Jeff is encouraging Freddie to be independent and capable of moving out. He isn't forcing him or expecting him to move out now.

He may be encouraging him but it is much harder for someone with ADHD to just get a job and move out.
People with ADHD struggle with planning, managing finances, keeping employment, keeping an organised and tidy place.

I'm well aware of that. I have two adult children with ADHD. Possibly 3 but he's not interested in a diagnosis.

It's no reason not the encourage them to be independent and to give them the confidence to do whatever they want. I didn't write them off.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2024 21:05

Beautiful Andes

Halsall · 18/09/2024 21:23

OMG those switchback roads 😱
