It is going through South America.

"The four new famous faces embarking on an epic 12,500 km race of a lifetime are:
Broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son, Freddy
Actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin, Mary Ellen
Broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband, Jeremy
Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband (then fiancé), Sam"

"Their journey begins in Belém, Northern Brazil - the gateway to the Amazon - and will pass through five checkpoints across the length of South America, to reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in Southern Chile."

Grin at the Buddha/border confusion. His look of confusion when they offered him a trip to a mosque was very funny.

I loved the difference betweeen their English conversati9n between themselves and the subtitles for what the people thought they were saying 😂

I didn't quite understand the timing tonight. A couple of weeks ago Jeff and Freddie were discussing Mother's Day and rmembering the death of Freddie's mum ( who died on that day 22 March), but tonight Kola and Mary Ellen were desperate to reach their destination to celebrate St. Patrick's Day which is on the 17 March.
How did that work ?

Mothers Day this year was 10 March so they must commemorate her on Mothers Day each year not the 22st.

SoupDragon · 05/09/2024 12:18

It's probably nicer to think of her on Mother's Day rather than remembering her date of death.

I suppose it's slightly different in that the dates for Jade are so close but I don't give any thought to my mother on the date she died (I'm not even sure which day it was actually). I do remember her on Mother's Day and her birthday though.

Those waterfalls looked amazing!!

heretoeternity · 05/09/2024 14:06

I've been on that train! Amazing scenery and sheer drops. I think they must have been doing a daytrip up then back again as otherwise they'd be off route. Having said that I sometimes wonder about why they take the direction they do. They had to get to Tigre, Argentina and that's easy to get to from Buenos Aires on a train. The best way from Uruguay to BA is from the lovely town of Colonia del Sacramento further along the coast but instead they got an expensive ferry from Montevideo. I suppose they just don't seek local advice sometimes.

hattymattie · 05/09/2024 17:19

What exactly was that train journey? Want to look into holidays now - although it is probably just a pipe dream

hattymattie · 05/09/2024 17:48

Ooh thank youSmile

Haggisfish3 · 05/09/2024 23:12

Ahhh I like them all actually. I think they have all had good and bad legs and they are all equally deserving.

SoupDragon · 06/09/2024 09:42

I agree. I was initially disappointed that Jeff and Freddie lost their lead this week but then realised I didn't actually mind who won as I liked them all.

purpleme12 · 06/09/2024 09:44

I'd like Kola and Mary-Ellen to win. Not sure it'll happen though

jellycatandkittens · 06/09/2024 10:05

I caught up on eps 3 and 4 yesterday. I ADORE Kola and Mary-Ellen. It was so interesting hearing him talk about his Irish and Nigerian parents, and him talk about his identity.
I would have loved to have grown up in a family like theirs, they exude love and warmth. And the two of them dancing on the stage was just wonderful.

But I do actually like all the couples this year!

ellebelli · 06/09/2024 10:58

I agree with kelly-her and Freddie should team up and have fun!

I agree with kelly-her and Freddie should team up and have fun!

Though the look on his face when she suggested that 🤣

NeelyOHara1 · 06/09/2024 19:41

I've wondered if the pairs on both celeb and "normal" versions draw straws, so to speak, to see who gets to go which routes, as surely otherwise they might all choose the same one, especially in the non-celeb version with its life changing prize money for the winners?

murasaki · 06/09/2024 20:17

I respect that if you finish first, you get to choose your route, then the others take from what's left, in finishing order.

Of course that didn't work in Canada, but then that was a weird series anyway.

murasaki · 06/09/2024 20:31

Doh, read, not respect.

NeelyOHara1 · 07/09/2024 13:32

Thanks for reply @murasaki. That makes sense.

BiscuityBoyle · 11/09/2024 21:32

Is no one else watching tonight?

RenoDakota · 11/09/2024 21:39

I don't get all the love for Jeff. Really can't stand the way he is with Freddie. He seems constantly irritated by him.
I went along with the whole Jeff-Brazier-is-a-saint thing before seeing him in this.

rockingbird · 11/09/2024 21:46

I'm watching, Jeremy is getting on my wick!!

RenoDakota · 11/09/2024 21:52

rockingbird · 11/09/2024 21:46

Me too. He is a humourless prig. And Kelly is lovely. Don't know how she puts up with that shit so good naturedly.

RocketsMagnificent7 · 11/09/2024 21:54

I'm watching.

I agree about Jeremy, he's a bit of a fun sponge isn't he?

I quite like this end, it'll make next week more of a race.

rockingbird · 11/09/2024 21:59

All very close in timings this time to the checkpoint! Will make the final leg very interesting.. looks like Jeremy is on the broken down coach 🤣
